i've raced my mates, R33 GTS-t, he's got an exhaust, front mount (auto)
and i've only got exhaust, extractors, pod, cold air intake, racing plugs and leads (manual) and i beat him best out of 3  so im pretty happy about that

kid dynamite is correct a normal R33 GTS-T will beat our moded FTO's everytime (turbo fto might keep up with a a stock r33). I'm about to buy an R33 and they are friggen fast in every way...with a cat-back system (mine is HKS) and nice ramp pod system its putting out 170kwatw.......wack on the boost contoler and the emange and off we go...

Now fords and V8s...yeah i have been a ford man for ages..they have lots of grunt (or a holden for that matter) but its like everyone at my work has an BA XR6...its a family car ffs...

As it turns out 15min ago I was racing a GTR and he blew me away...however at the first set of lights he took it easy a bit and i got into thr 4k range and we didn't pull away so fast...but once he spooled up he was off....

Am I the only one thinking this???

"Can an FTO beat a skyline? - who gives a sh*t!"

Sorry, rant over

I agree Ben...........to a certain extent...........

A lot of people see the Skyline as a base to measure how much power your car cranks out.

Eg. If you can keep up with a GTR then you've gotta be doing something right in the way of mods.

Ok this might sound corny but the only Skyline i try to keep up with is the one on the horizon!!!

Ok, now that I've actually got a Skyline I can comment in this thread!

My R33 puts out a decent amount of power and there is no way in hell the FTO would keep up even on low boost.

However, the FTO would slaughter my R33 in the corners.

Oh, and the FTO definately turns more heads, from the younger generations at least.

Skylines are the new choice of street bogan wannabe racer - they are now in the same class as bogan Falcon and Commondore drivers- such a cliche. An obvious choice, tons of power, super chunky: zero style.

You can't drive to the supermarket to pick up a bottle of milk in a Skyline - you need to pump terrible Scooter-style techno in your big-ass sub, do about 50 blockies, drift into a parking bay, rev the engine for about 10 minutes in the carpark. Then get your milk, hop back in the car, squeel the wheels as you take off, almost hit a parked car or an elderly couple, do another 50 blockies, try to pick up some 13-year-old (usually Japanese) school girls, then do a couple more blockies and head home.

Once you get home, you make a coffee, turn on the TV, realise how boring the Commonwealth games are, hop back in your oversized Skyline, do a sh*t load more blockies, just so you can impress some Falcon and Commondore drivers, and maybe some 12-year-old boys who think doing blockies in a big turbo sports car pumping crap techno is real cool.

Next thing you know you are 38, fat, bald, working in a sh*t no-brain job, and you haven't had a girlfriend in 10 years. BUT... at least you have a super cool, super fast turbo chunkbox that 12-year-old boys and other fat, bald, 38-year-old bogan drivers think is cool. 8O

Skylines are very impressive beasts- they are just obvious bogan boxes these days - its not always about the power.

Tbone I think that’s a bit offensive mate, what you said are what typical government & media had said about import cars drivers in general. And that’s base on very minority group of people.

You got to keep in mind, lots of FTO owners do own a turbo car & V8 as well.

Yeah, your right FTO338. I think a lot of the stereotypes have come from some form of truth though. In Bendigo there has been a huge influx of Skylines, and Japcars in general, a lot of these drivers have been acting like hoons, doing blockies, bringing a bad name for the rest of the import drivers and as a result, chances are high if you are driving your car through town you'll get pulled over by a cop, cause what you are driving, not how. These minorities play up to the stereotype and make it real hard to drive around without getting stalked. A mate of mine bought a 200SX about 8 or 9 weeks ago and there has been a cop parked in his street in a different spot a couple times a week since. Hasn't got him yet (they did get his GF though - that was kind of funny though :D ), but he has been pulled over 3 times in town, not doing anything, but just hassling him.

I like Skylines, I have a lot of respect for the car - and Nissan, but it seems in the area at least, that Skylines are only driven by fools with big neons who do blockies and act like you stereotypical 2Fast2Furious wannabe idiot.

Didn't want to sound harsh to Skyline drivers, or powerful car drivers in general - again, they are fine cars, but in these here parts, unfortunatly, this media/government stereotype isn't going to be going away with people acting like Paul Walker.

(P.S. FTO338 - I guess that is your car in your name - nice. You have any pics posted?)

EDIT: Actually I'm not going to bother keeping that up.

I'll just leave this alone.

skylines are like ass holes. every ones got one.

they are to over rated,
skylines are=
v6 2.5L VTEC YO!!!!! turbo engine.

fto's are=
v6 2.0L mivec N/A engine.

why dont we compare the fto v6 2.0L mivec (N/A) againest the skyline v6 2.5L VTEC YO!!!!! (N/A) and see what one is the fastest out of them?

both N/A im pretty sure im going to back the fto on that one.

why dont we compare the fto to other N/A cars, not to turbo cars, if they didnt have the turbo fcuk they would be slow
