The cv cup is held into the gearbox by a snapring
The cv joint is helt onto the shaft with a circlip and the cv joint is held into the cup by the boot!

Also its not a race, you don't have a license so don't rush sh*t.

For example, mushrooming your CV shafts is just retarded, slow the f**k down, think about sh*t, what have u got to lose by taking an extra 5 mins.

Could of went and found your castle nut as Ben said, you wouldn't of injured your hand.

I only asked about slotting the shaft into the cup(which is allready attached to the box). Wanted to know if it locks in somehow or just sits there held in by the boot.. Jerry answered that question.. I don't no why the snap ring business was even brought up

You don't assemble the driveshafts with the cv joint still sticking out the side of the gearbox dickhead

why the fuk not?? I slotted the drive shafts straight in. Tied the boots. Put the hubs and everything else back on and it seems completely normal and fine to me? Explain why I should remove the cup just to be put back in??

Toby, you have to take the cups out to properly secure the boot, that is if you are using cv clamps and not using cable ties, which if you are using cable ties, just quit now. You cannot do it on the car and do it properly, dont be lazy, pop the cups off with a crowbar and do it right the first time.
