Have you changed out plugs, or had the compression checked?
I don't know but maybe one of the cylinders could be low, or one of the plugs could be only at half strength.
the fact it only falters in drive or reverse, and not all the time should be the biggest give away, but it simply doesn't seem to be an obvious thing...
The reason why its an intermittant issue is because the coils in the ISC heat up causing the problem. You can actually have a ISC test fine when cold but when hot the resistance is way out. This will also cause issues when cold.
Pull the harness and I bet ya there is no difference in engine characteristics. Test the harness to see if its fine. Its a common problem on Mitsubishi s.

I must be gen ying his actual fix as I'm not reading it.
Sleep deprevation, etc.
All I'm reading is the isc is the issue, but we have swapped it..... So............
No idea.
What exactly is the fix then paya?

Ok, so you say your stepper motor is fine right? Leave your stepper connected to the throttle body and disconnect the electrical harness connected to the stepper. So if your stepper and harness is good by pulling the harness and starting the engine, there should be a difference in the way the car idles and drives correct? Does it change your idle when doing this? I bet ya it does not.AJ wrote:How dafuq do I do that? Any ideas Fras, Dan?payaya wrote:That's a ISC issue! Put your car in "on" mode with stepper off the TB and still connected to its electrical harness you should see the plunger move.
Surge during P and N means only one thing, it's stepper related.
If you want I can post a video of my stepper being disconnected and show you.

I've finally found the time to paint my windscreen wipers and the water catchment/vents thing! Looking good so far, paint's drying as I post this! Been at it since yesterday, refusing to get impatient this time

Successfully Stage 1 tuned my Golf. Holy moly it pulls so much harder in the mid range! Next up is a 3 inch downpipe to get rid of the sh*tty stock one.

Re: What work did you do on your car today?
Done most of the legwork on the wreck today, started late and only got a good 4 hours in, but took out the rear trailing arms, handbrake cables, dash, interior fuse box, traced a few more wires and pulled out the drivers side loom, bonnet catch is completely out, starter motor, crossmember dropped out, a LOT more sh*t around the engine pulled out - it is free to come out just needs to come off the axel stands and onto some jacks to just wheel it out the front of the car
Just waiting on matt to come round and lend me his jack so we can get it out, onto a pallet and down to NSW with the box
Just got to completely rip out the interior loom, alarm, shifter cables/pedals etc and a few other minor things, and were done, hopefully out of my garage by next weekend

Wired up the drivers window for the 530T, as well as the drivers side crossover and tweeter.... was horrible trying to push the wires through the rubber tube....
Next up will be the passenger's side.... not looking forward to that, so I have no idea when I will do it

Re: What work did you do on your car today?
Happy to do another box
So long as you're paying cash & I dont have to pull it out of the car, its the perfect business! Drop off box - Bennoz fixes box - Box gets picked up
No shitbox car left in my driveway
And sh*t I've done this week, changed gearbox oil on the red rocket, wired in a fused relay for the fog lights, topped up all other fluids. Today I've got a knock up front somewhere that needs investigating. I have a feeling my Teins are due for a rebuild.
On the missus car I also have to investigate a rather large knock. Think the drivers droplink may have found its way loose.
Then have to get the spare 6A13 onto the stand (after weighing it
) then I'm back on the mini
Oh & gotta do a job on mums car too. New high flow exhaust keeps triggering the rear o2 sensor overflow error & spitting up an engine light, so using a spark plug anti foul device to stop the gas hitting it so hard.

Re: What work did you do on your car today?
You will have to pick it up from the villawood Ego station mate, as it will be a lot cheaper again to send it that way, will work out to about 250-300 with the engine so like 100 for you to ship roughly, got to look further into collection though. Or you can pay 25% more and get it delivered to bennoz house etc, ill get full prices once its out hopefully tonight
