Okay, update, looks 95% positive that suzuki will come to the party, have to go in there tomorrow but believe it or not, MY DEALERSHIP IS CLOSING!!!!!!!!!!! FUUUUUUUUU!!!!

anyway, heres a few pics i took now ive pulled the front right wheel off and had a look (incidently, cheers to the boys who stripped 2 of my wheel nuts last time i got new tyres...)

side of engine...RED = Conrod
Image

front of engine...Red = Gudgeon pin and conrod
green = half a big end bearing wedged in somewhere!
Image

pieces i picked up from the engine bay :( (anyone think the black bits are part of the piston????)
Image

so yeah, looks like the big end went on Cyl#1 and then the conrods snapped off the piston and thats gone through the block...
happy days

Ouch indeed.

TBH, that black looks like block wall, the silver stuff looks like piston skirt.

i was thinking the other way round...

theres numbers and markings on some of the alloy silver bits so they are deff part of the block... black stuff closely resembles cast iron, but its def an alloy...

think ill melt it all down and make a ring, anyone got a furnace?

actually your right some do look like piston skirt, and considering the gudgeon is sitting outside the block that would make sense

ill try and take a good macro pic

ill see what happens tomorrow when i take my baggy of bits and pics in..

& pistons usually do have plenty of writing on them compared to blocks...

went through the jigsaw, bits on the right (bluetacked), are def piston, groves and all, bit on the left is a bit of block, but the outside... its a diff colour

Image

this exact same prob happened (on a smaller scale) to my mate in the sx4 club, im thinking theres a design flaw somewhere, the engine is just a re-sleaved 1800 with a longer stroke... maybe its too much for the crankshaft and big ends,

true... it would be night on impossible to put a g pin through a block i spose... so the shiney stuff is the piston skirt, the dull silver stuff is head and the black stuff is block? maybe it is cast iron... feels light though

okay... i have a decent idea/storey built up in my head now... off to suzuki..
