oh and i hate the way the PS controller has only a button for accelerator and a button for brake. you can only full accel or full brake. that kills the simulator part too. at least the xbox has paddels at the back of the controller for accel and brake so you can apply how much you need. this is a big peev with me coz i dont belive you should have to buy another controller or a steering wheel to play a game you already pay a load for and a console worth too much when first released.

by now its sounds as if i work for MS, i assure you i dont, i hate them with a passion, but credit where its due. hmm

END RANT lmao

Well it seems some peopleare hard to please, still everyone to their own. Personally i say go get GT4 and a force feedback steering wheel and spend the next few weeks smiling madly :D

Yes some valid points there. I still love it and do play with the steering wheel which certainly adds to the experience.

Pagan as for your comments in regards to the controller are you at all aware that every button on the dualshock 2 controller is analogue (pressure sensitive) all except select and start I believe. Try lightly pressing X and watching the throttle indicator.

Try it next time. Works a treat in the Grand Theft Auto series. If you lightly press X you will go slow and the harder you press it the faster you go. This feature is used in many games not just driving games.

If that doesn't do it for you, you can also configure the right analogue stick as Throttle and Brake.

To me its only nature that any company will try to get much as possible when new inventions are release. Remember the company has to spend lots of money on R&D & initial cost on machinery to produce these consoles. As times goes by, the company would have lower production cost due to parts are cheaper (volume), & the sales of units would have cover the cost of R&D & machinery, therefore they can justify to lower the price when competitors like MS decided to have a go at the console market share.

In my opinion XBox is just a cheap computer in a nut shell, Celeron 733 MHz & a hard drive isn't exactly an invention is it? So there’s hardly any R&D & MS don't need to invest much money on production machinery, therefore they can justify the initial low price launch.

I look at XBox like an on board graphic card on a motherboard, it does the job, but nothing spectacular, while PS2 is like a dedicated AGP or PCI-E graphic card, even though its old, but it was design for one sole purpose, games.

i agree, it all sounds like marketing ploy to me... but mehhh, sif I'm gonna drive 700 cars anyway!
pagan wrote:you want simulation, then you pay for your mistakes on the track, not like NFS2 and GT4.
ummm, i'd rather not... it'll be an expensive mistake otherwise!
pagan wrote:Customisation is not impressive, you can do all the things everygame has. in GT4 you get turbos, engine bits and tads and tires, wieght stuff all the norms. in forza you get all this PLUS body kits if you wish, decals, paint kits, and so on. you get the best of both worlds, moders can do NFS things to their cars, and those who dont want to dont have to.
True... but it's a good start. maybe GT4 is catered for a broader audience which may consist of non-ricers?? :P otherwise why the heck would they bother going through all the trouble including all the old-shool classics (which are PoS IMO)... i'd say piss away all the old school tin crap and include more of the other missing features (like boost control, fuel & timing maps, wider range of newer wheel models etc etc)
pagan wrote:also in GT4 there is a bug in the game, if you change the game ratings for bhp to kw in options the game doesnt convert it on the modification part of the game. it uses bhp figurs as kw. so youll get 400Kw fto, when its 400 bhp.
yeah true... but oh well, it's only a number. it does get faster afterall... (at least it felt like it to me....)
