Sorry man I have not read through thread thoroughly but from what I understand it sounds like like one of the ecu (engine or gearbox). Have you checked error codes?

No, not checked that. Sounds a little out of my league

You're a smart kid, I have faith in you. Just follow the DIY. Or shout Ben a beer.

Took HKS out yesterday and did some tests.

In 3rd gear on low boost I was able to max it out. Switched over to MIVEC just over 5,500rpm no problem and pulled all the way through the rev range.

Same test on high boost and at the same point of MIVEC it starts to splutter. I'm not sure if it's rev limiter style because as soon as I hear it I back off. But it definitely hesitated and didn't' sound too good.

On my return trip I tried the high boost test again in 3rd and it didn't have any issues and went to 7,000 rpm like normal.

yes, it was fully warmed up when I did the first lot of tests.

Need someone with me next time to take a listen.

I think what I'll do it take it to the track as is and try high boost but if there's any issues I'll just drop it down to low boost. Will I be maxing out 3rd on the straight at Wakefield?

Just putting it out there, how is your oil level?
It may not have any thing to do with it but if it's low it could stop it going into mivec.

Will take a look this afternoon and have a go at the error codes too.

*update*

It doesn't have as much oil in it as I'd like so will get some during the week. Was going to get it now but it's raining and I don't want to be pushing the car to 'loose my licence' speeds in bad light and wet weather to test if this fixes it.

Also, tried to check the error codes and ended up blowing the fuse on the interior lights. Packed my sh*t up once that happened  Luckily I had a spare fuse.

Keep forgetting my plan to make an error code tester from parts at work

meanwhile, atleast you're found 'something' which could contribute.

what are the boost levels for high and low?

Talking about low oil I checked my oil the other day, it was under the low line 8O thank god it only gets reversed out into the drive to give the engine a run, then back in to be locked up again.
Time to take the gear box of and replace some parts to fix the leak. Good thing is the oil drip tray is in the right spot on the ground  .
