Help, why are my new cv joints different to the old ones? The ring of teeth around the old ones, isn't on the new ones... Do I have the wrong ones?

That's the ABS ring. They come off and go on the new one but be careful they can snap.

    Ohhh

But they are going on my other car which doesn't have abs .... So can I just put the new cv's on with no ring??

You don't need them if your silver car doesn't have abs

Didn't really have time to go get them, that's why I asked, ended up using a knife and protractor haha
Replaced the outer CV boots, and the new ones I've put on are shorter and have to be stretched abit to fit. Is this ok..? Noticed the old ones were longer but not as stretchy, so I'm guessing these will be fine, but just want to make sure before I tie them down??
