Does anyone know what the top speed of a stock FTO would be if it wasn't speed-limited?

Well if u can find me a rd with no cops, camera & its long enough 2 do it , then i go & test it out, since i removed the speed limiter!

But the chances of find that rd in melbourne is 0%

But your car has 'speed groves' on either side of it, I want stock figures :P

just regurgitating what i have read, i think "stock" GR's are meant to reach about 220ish kph, gpx would be a little more than that i guess. As I said, its what i have read, so i have not tested this fact :)

A smidge under 250kmh

A stock 4 speed tiptronic FTO does a little over 60kmh per gear:
1st - a bit over 60
2nd - a little under 130
3rd - a bit over 190 (if it wasn't speed limited)
4th - a little under 250

In theory  the FTO does 180kmh in 3rd gear quite nicely. Shame about the limiter.

i remember i read somewhere in a UK forum someone removed the speed limiter on his manual GPX and topped out 244kph so yeah you're almost right on the money there Ruchi...

oh by the way, trust me - i know a road in Melb that is long enough for you to let the FTO stretch her legs a little' bit... ;)

...could be a little' too far for some though', hehehe..!!

I know a public road where you can legally do it. The problem is getting there.

The Stuart Higway in the Northern Territory.

I had my upto 230km/h. Had mivec controller (delimeter) and Defi heads up display. Was fun!, but dangerous, on closed roads of course!

the gearing would give almost 250 k in a manual, but drag might play a part in that...
now if we removed the redline of 8000 and put it to say 10000 (which they have been doin with the same motors in Galants,) it would do almost 300 k but that would have to be prooven.
f**k the rules, if your car is delimited the 20 second squirt to 250 is not a problem as long as you choose a safe place to do it. FTO338, how did you remove the delimiter, do you have 280k speedo or what?

gearing doesnt mean you'll get to that speed. At high speed, power is more important that gearing.

Give you an example, you'll hit higher top speed in 5th gear holden SS than you would in 6th gear.

250 km/h would be not possible in an FTO in my opinion.
