I have no idea what they are called but they are small little plastic thingies you use to help you line up the head of the engine when you're putting it back on. Anyone know where i can get these, i've been quoted $70 each on them!?! apparently they disintegrate from the heat of the engine after awhile so seems ridiculous to pay so much for them. Sorry i cant be anymore descriptive about them.

hmm bump.
I got a little more info on the part, it sits inbetween the valve adjusting bolt and the valve it self. On top of the adjusting bolt there is a metal cap and these plastic bits are used to hold the metal cap in place. I also need a metal cap as i lost one when pulling apart the engine. Anyone know part numbers, where i could get them?
Iv'e tried the FTO workshop manuals and found nothing =(

You can't replace the plasic bit, you will have to replace the whole lifter, I got mine from Joe and Ricks.

To replace that you will have to remove the top half of the head (cam holder), also the timing belt has to come off, and when you refit the cam holder you need to apply liquid gasket to it and tighten the bolts to 24nm in the specific order, its all in the workshop manual.

Its a real fun job, not.
