Sorry to hear, but maybe they took your version r engine out and threw in a spare GR engine they had laying around.
Give me the name of the mechanic so I know never to go there... I'll just stick with Maytech in Arncliffe.

Well they have might of taken the top part of the head off (cam holder) and when putting it back on they might of put to much sealant on and it has got into the oil galleries and restricting oil pressure to the hydrolic pins which activate MIVEC.
Or the harness that goes to the oil control valve was not connected properly or was damaged.

hmmm interesting i mean it res hard and i look at my revs but they stay the same the whole way through till 8,000rpm.
they usually rev harder and get there harder.
hmmm i think BigPitty is right you do have a good point at which thats what they did.

Does it have less power? If so, it sounds like they got the timing belt on wrong......off by a tooth will do it.

No No Plenty of Power. . Running Perfectly Fine. . Just that Mivec dont Kick in...
So far i think BigPitty has the answer. . But could it be something else.

you get more power but theres no kick because change over is smooth no significant drop in torque if u look at a dyno sheet of a mivec fto compared to a VTEC YO!!!!!

That is exacly what mine does... No drop in torgue u can maybe feel abit of a kick but not much just a smooth chnge over ave new spark plagues new timing belt and rubber seals why cant we be like toyota and use aliminum seals so they don't leak i don't have to worry about that now.
but i think your right jonowong.

I just took mine out, and I must say, I can't feel anything noticable when it enters in to MiVEC mode other than a torque increase -- no 'kick' to speak of.
Maybe you had a slight problem before and they fixed it. Give them a call and thank them

If you can hear an audible difference when going past 5,500 rpm, its probably working fine, you will probably have to listen hard to see if both banks are going into MIVEC.

As bigpitty1 said, just turn off any music, open both windows and listen to the engine. The note change when mivec engages is really obvious to me and all the passengers that have been in my car before. Definitely louder and more uhhh... solid ?
Seems on my car, mivec comes in at exactly 5800 rpm, i also find it easiest to hear the sound change in 2nd gear as the revs climb up slower.
Note: no kick when mivec engages here, maybe just a tad bit faster acceleration for a 1000rpm or so.

We are all aware of that mate.
Im just sayen i could really feel the difference before and now i cant feel it Open up like it was opening up before.
I wanna no why ?
New Seals
New Timing Belt
New Spark Plagues
New Elastic Around Gasket
& Bearings were put on there correct tooths.
The Car Revs really good though when it gets to 5,500RPM i cant feel the Motor Open up like before.
I just feel it stay the same the whole way through.
