Hi All,

Anyone know a good place locally (in Aus) to purchase Rivnuts or Nutserts?

I am thinking on using some on an upcoming project.

Are they something you can just purchase at Bunnings or are they more a specialty item?

Don't know what they are? have a look at http://www.prifast.co.uk/nutserts.htm

Cheers

Hya breza

check your yellow pages for the local "engineering" supply place. they will have kits on the shelf or they should.

someplace like "Blackwodds" here in Melbourne not sure if they out your way. probably have a depot in Hobart.

Thanks Tarkus,

Have checked out Blackwoods, they have a store in Hobart.

At this stage it looks like the best I can do is around $250 for a basic kit including the manual nutset tool.

$250 is not too bad.........although, I have a couple of contacts with workshops, might see if I can borrow a nutset tool (if they have one) for a few beer tokens.

Nutserts are a brilliant invention, but from memory they aint cheap no matter where you go... Have you tried companies like Ramset & Hilti? We used to use them where I worked with the pneumatic nutsert guns (also not cheap)

Will see if I can scratch up the place we used to get them.

So whats the advantages of these things over conventional pop-rivets?

They are threaded - you can use bolts in them - ie reuseable.

I am a big fan of the WReXcel look of the mid to late nineties so was planning on using them to attach a WRX bonnet scoop to my FTO. :-)
