My FTO's just about to tap over into 150k km territory and its feeling a bit long in the tooth at the moment so I was wondering what sort of servicing she'd be up for?

Sparkplugs definitely need to be changed but the guide listed on CompleteFTO has been turned into something you need to hand over money for.

I'm assuming the fuel filter will need to be done too?

Things i'm not too sure about include - aircon regassing, gearbox fluid change, injector cleaning, radiator fluid change and brake fluid change.

Rear pads will need doing as well, not sure about the fronts.

I'd like to do as much of the work as possible but chances are my skills would be limited to doing the sparkplugs and radiator fluid so I'm not too sure where to take her. UAS is always an option but that'll suck this fortnights paycheck dry, they really know how to charge there.

Oh and would the water pump need doing?

I've been leaking *a lot* of fluid lately (uh... the car that is) when at a standstill, seems to run clear though so I'm not too sure what it is. Possibly the aircon?

I can't help with what should be serviced, however when do you get the clear fluid from underneath the car. Whenever this happens people always think the worst but it can simply be to do with condensation and the engine.

If you want a serious overhaul I would suggest water pump, oil pump and big end shells as well as cam bets, etc. That'll give you another 150K without any worries.

All Depends on what you've had done on all the services previous to this one..
What major things have you had done at your regular service intervals?
Or
Get the list of the things that need to be done at different service intervals & cross off the ones that have already been done & strike out others that can wait until the next major service... That should give you a pretty good starting point to work from..

Every 40,000 km - Change transmission oil/fluid & auto transmission filter
Every 100,000 km - Flush and then replace engine coolant.
Every 24 months - Replace brake fluid.

its a big job to change the water pump, you have to take the whole engine out....

but id do the plugs, the belts, the water pump and just clean the fuel filter.

clean the fuel filter? just replace it! its like $30

clean it... FREE!!!!

At 150k I'd be doing as a matter of course:
Oil
Oil filter
Air filter (clean if its aftermarket or replace element its its HKS etc)
Fuel Filter
Sparkies (which may include intake manifold gasket)
AC / PS belt
Alternator Belt
Metho clean your MAF sensor receiver bar (as you are a GR)

Things to check:
Condition of brake fluid
Condition of clutch fluid
Condition of cooling system fluid

Others:
If you are doing the water pump, as mentioned half the end of the motor has to come off. So it would be well your while replacing the timing belt as well if you didnt do it at the 100k service. This is also a good opportunity to check the timing belt guide pulleys and the AC / PS & alternator pulleys as well.

I also seem to recall you wanting to do the tappets as well Scarecrow, if the intake manifold is off, tis the perfect opportunity to replace the rear set (which is usually the noisy set.)

Rear pads are a piece of piss, just make sure you use a good copper based grease to relube the slide pins.

im guessing the timing cover belt needs to come off only??? How do you clean a fuel filter??

theres nothing at 150,000kms that requires urgent attention as past 1000000kms everything has been taken care of.

I would suggest looking at wear items like anything rubbery, like mount, bush etc. Other than that theres nothing to worry about.
