Can also wait till Myers have a 10 or 15% off storewide sale, then go in to buy the tv. Also apply for a Myer GE mastercard at the same time and buy the tv on that card. 1st transaction on that card is 10% off, so adds up to around 20-25% off. We've gotten some Samsung tv's that way at quite good prices.

If you have an ABN apply for a wholesale account with Ingram Micro or someone similar.
Some brands like Sony have a massive mark up when you compare wholesale and retail.

Hey dude i work for Leading Edge Computers and we stock the R8 series LCD.
I actually bought the 32" at cost price hehe. pretty cheap too.
The 40" is around the price your looking for.
Some food for thought

And dont forget a Plasma of that size will add on average $100 - $150 a year to your electricity bill!

From what I was told, the shop mark up the price by about 30% so if you're gonna haggle you could work off that.

if u buy now....should consider Full HD Resolution....as in the next 2 years DVD will fade out replacing by blue ray Discs which has a Native 1920x1080 resolution.
i personally wouldn't buy anything not with a Full HD panel....
considering for plasma, there is only one pioneer 53inch that has Full HD resolution and retails for something like $12k....
I would only consider LCD...
only my personal thoughts
