hi guys just wondering what this is, its the black object located under the tb..

Image
i was driving my car the other day, and the car just died, still have reds engine still turns over..
but i dont think its getting fuel. is it the fuel pressure regulator? as when i was turning the keys into the reds it was making a really odd crackling noise and getting hot.

would this cause a car to just die?

also my fuel pump dosnt seem to be making a noise, is this due to the fpr?

how much would a fpr cost?
or worst case a feul pump?

any help would be great as i cant drive my baby... and need it for work.

reguards ben

My exp with dodgy ISCs is that it starts but dies in the arse on idle. Take it off and clean it. I bought one form some1 a while back with was no good, cleaned the origional one and it was fine from then on.

so im just wondering if u guys can shoot some idea's of what can cause a car to just die.. when driving..

im will be checking filter next.

the car is trying to start, its just not catching.
petrol is getting to the filter, im not sure ifs its comming out yet.

that little black thing, shown in the pic, is making "creaky door noises" when u turn the keys to the reds..

any help would be greatly apreciated.

Dude what made you change your fuel pump??? But the sounds of it, just just decided to change it???

What your saying about not catching is bascially revs rise then bascially dies or hovers really low??

I have no doubts its the ISC. Do a search on how to test if for fualty coils. But first I would clean it as there so much oil on there.

So unplug the ISC, unscrew it, and just clean the part of the ISC which goes into the throttle body. Use some degreser on a rag or something. Take the throttle body off and clean it and also the hole where the ISC goes into the TB.

Im guessing you have a POD filter? Your using way too much oil, thats prob the reason why the ISC is stuffed at the moment.

Connect everything back up, start your car see if revs rise and stay like they use to.

If that fails use a multimeter to check residance between coils. You got to do that when the car is hot too, as coils sometimes only show a faulty reading when hot. If the car stalls non stop turn the idle speed up a bit via the throttle screw.

After test you'll know for sure if the stepper is screwed, go buy a new one.

Have you got round to checking the engine diagnostics yet? They will tell you what is needing replaced before you go off changing everything people tell you night be wrong
