Steering Rack - Ratio Change?

Hi All,
Back in he day when I used to have a RS2000 Escort you could purchase a Group A steering rack that reduced the the amount of turns required by the steering wheel from 3.5 to 2.3 turns lock to lock.
It was a bit heavier around town but was a massive improvement when travelling at speed.
I may be looking at a steering rack rebuild sometime in the next 6-12 months for my FTO so was wondering, is it possible to shorten up the ratio's in the FTO steering rack?
Would it be a custom job? or has anyone developed anything off the shelf?
