got a call from my mechanic
bottom end on my engine is rooted.. sounds like its being hit with a hammer.. hard.
so basically after a few figures.
1.. cost of a new engine...
2... cost of a rebuild...
3.. any other idea's.
if i needed to get a rebuild kit, what will it consist of?
also if a engine needs new rings.. how much will i be looking at to replace them .
cheers..
i could cry right now

replace the engine, it usually ends up being cheaper than rebuilding the engine, usually it costs more because there is more labour unless your doing it yourself.

yea, i will probably replace it.. and keep the head on the old engine.. and do some headwork on it later.

my engine has a crack in the block and my mechanic recommended getting a whole engine as opposed to just a block because he said that otherwise they might not match together evenly.
i'm going over to Joe and Ricks tomorrow to see how much they quote me on getting an engine swap.
it still runs fine but its just that the crack is very slowly getting bigger so eventually it will hit one of those water chambers.
i'm thinking of getting it changed over pretty soon

Sorry to ask again but any idea how you did it? If you can't remember or don't know how then maybe those mechanics are just being dodgy f*ckers trying to rip you off?!
Maybe they hit it with a hammer?
