Hi.
After my battery went flat, I charged it up and reconnected, all functions such as radio, light works OK but I can't start the engine, It only make loud clicking noise, but nothing is going.

I also noticed that the gear is now stuck in P, I can not shift it away from P at all.

I am not sure if the 2 problem is related or not. I remember seeing this on some web site before but can't find it any more.

Any help is appreciated, As the gear is stuck, I can't get it out of the garage. :(

i actually found the same problem myself once when I first got the car ... you won't be able to shift out of park unless you have your foot on the brake ... don't mean to make you feel like crap if this is whats causing it, just trying to help....

And your electrical issue sounds like the battery not holding its charge properly... enoug to power on some lights etc but not enough to turn the motor over. You might need to replace it.

Thanks for the quick replies guys,

I did apply the foot brake, felt quite stiff, I guess because the engine is not going. What I could do next is try to jump start it again some time to see if battery is the problem.
thanks

More info here on the Park issue. There is a cable which connects both the foot pedal & ignition barrel to the gear lever.

problem fixed, apparently the battery is dying, after replacing the battery all is OK. Can't explain why the gear was stuck while the battery was weak.

Thanks for all the help

My car dose this to and i have spent a lot of time trying to find out why you can not start it.

So far i found out this is a locking thing the FTO have and all you have to do is put your foot on the break and then move the stick in to (N) and then start the car.
