early rev limiting?

hi all, i've recently bought a 97 GPvR and it might be a dumb question but are these cars rev limited to 6500rpm when cold? does it have to be at operating temp before going any further coz thats what mines doing. any help appreciated...

yep, have to let it warm up before Mivec will work...

With any car you should let it warm up before putting your foot down though... otherwise you're doing unnecessary damage to your engine.

and what about if it is at operating temp and it still does it? it did that this evenng on the great western after an hour of driving...

then u have an issue.

Check you alternator.

yep, should take 5-10 mins to warm up to the point where you can get into Mivec, until recently my car was having the same problems.

Start out by checking your ECU Codes;

You can do it yourself, or take it into a Mitsubishi workshop & get them to hook it up to their MUT II device and expect to pay $50-100 ... up to you, but it is very easy to do (and you may have to get the error codes loads of times), let us know if you have any dramas with it.

Once you've done that, let me know what errors you get & I should be able to sort you out, with any luck it will be a fairly cheap fix.
