EoI: FTO carbonfibre bonnets - coming soon!!

I have found a local supplier/manufacturer who can have bonnets made up in genuine 4-layered carbonfibre, what we need to do is decide which style we want for the mould:
A) Kaze
B) Evo
C) Creative
D) Factory
Costing will be around $1.2K, and could be cheaper as we get more numbers... Prices will be confirmed in the next 2-3 weeks pending our numbers but as a rough figure for the mean time, we're looking at AUD$1.2K per bonnet. Info on expected delivery time will announced as soon as confirmed prices are available...
Let me know if you are genuinely interested (both interstate and abroad) so i can make deposit arrangements when prices are released.
Meanwhile I've set up a poll so we can decide which design we are opting for.
Your thoughts please.

Other than design, is there any other benefit? I understand it may be lighter, but surely not enough to make any significant difference.

Will these be 100% street legal?
Do you get an engineers cert or something?
Sorry I was just under the impression that you were not allowed to change bonnets because it would have different crumble points in a collision.

Scracy, i couldn't find the evo-7 style you were referring to... I looked up the Project-F West website but I couldn't see any.
Because the guy I'm dealing with is a manufacturer of carbon products, fibreglass is not an option, but i suppose once the mould is made it shouldn't be too hard to make fibreglass copies from it...
As for legalities, it differs from state to state so check with your local road authorities... I believe this is a rather grey/contentious issue but as with any mods, there are risks involved so think twice before you commit.
Main benefits of carbonfibre is that it's lightweight and much stronger (even compared to aluminium/steel). Oh and also it looks way cool, hehe... It is estimated that you will shave about 10-15kgs off the overall kerb weight, and although it may not sound like much but think of it this way - the lighter the car, the more responsive the handling will be, and also quicker because of less weight to carry (which also helps with fuel economy). Who knows, in 2-3 years time, we might have carbonfibre panels for the whole car??

I reckon you'd want to make real sure about whether it will effect your insurance or not. Bonnets are designed to crumple, and if these are stronger and don't crumple they may not be legal and could void insurance.

technically, you are voting for the design so whichever style gets the most vote will go into production...
as for securing the bonnet with factory latches/bonnet pins, i will have to look into that as well... stay tuned!

i can already do EVO style ones for 1000.00 without a group buy, if everyone wants one i can look into a group buy price but keep in mind at the moment i can only do EVO style.

just thought i would point out the the Kaze and creative bonnets would probably be illegal in most states, i know that they are in W.A.

2.do you know there wieght, and
3.any chance of getting a pic of underneath as i would like to see if it will give me a little more clearance between my engine and the bonnett
