It's more for fuel economy then anything else plus the extra gear shift, b..ored with just shifting up to 4th gear
Just want to know if it's a big job.

$30, plus postage sound fair? Payment via paypal.
It's no use to me, so might as well get used by someone. Don't know how many km's on the clock yet, but will let you know when I get around to plugging it in.
Also, I'll be away for most of Jan, so if you want it, get it sorted soon, or it'll have to be End of Jan!

does anyone know if there's any way of 'importing your car's original odometer unit into a foreign body? i am looking to do a full speco/ autometer cluster, but dont want to lose the odometer reading, and dont want to use my own for fear of damagiing it. I take it the reading is taken from inside the cluster, and not from the ECU?

Was under the impression that it's stored in the speedo part. Should just be a matter of putting your old speedo into a new cluster? Anyone confirm that?

Easy way to find out! I'll pop it in when I change my dials over to the group buy ones... when they arrive of course!

i find it hard to believe that theres anything in the cluster that is smart enough to run the Tip gearbox.. i'm not even sure that it is smart enough to control which number gets lit up on the cluster when you change gears.. hehe
I think that you'd need to get all the parts from a 5 speed tip for it to be possible.. gearbox, instr. cluster, ECU? - or is there a specific Tiptronic/Gearbox control unit? & the cover plate for the tiptronic surround that has the no. 5 on it

- wouldn't be complete without it! ..
Would be cool, but maybe not worth the hassle of tracking down all the parts..

The ODO reading is stored in the cluster

The Tip box has its own ECU which sits in behind the center console

To convert you would need a 5 spd Tip box, 5 spd tip ECU, 5 spd Tip cluster, 5 spd Tip driveshafts (or swaps the ends off a set as they are different from 4 spd.)
I hope this answer all your queries.
Sincerely,
Bennoz

119,995km on the clock.
Readings stored in the speedo dial of the cluster.
