Hey does anybody know were the wires plug in to for the fto emblem to light up when doors open. Just got a set but no diagram.

where you get it from ? how much ? and you probably just wire it stratight up to the same spot that the door lights are wired to ?? i got no real idea..

the ftos that came with the kick plate actually have a seperate bit of wiring for it, off memory the kick plates end up plugging into a plug thingo that's uniquely for it. but i'm pretty sure you can just splice it into the wiring for your interior light

dont just take my word for it, in case i'm wrong, someone else should be along to confirm or deny it soom lol

if i was you to be safe i would run the two wires under the carpet(obviously) cut off the plugs at the end runn it behind the dash well under it kinda you dont need to take off the dash and run it behind the centre and then unscrew the passanger footwell and also that plastic under the steering wheel. Twist the wires together(thereo nly thin) and wrap the it around the 15A fuse that the ciggy lighter uses in the interior fuse box and push the fuse back in to place.Now you have power for it and for the groudn wire just unscrew a independent bolt and place it inbetween the washer and the bolt.

thats what i wouold do anyway.

OK, don't wanna flame, but there's a couple of problems here...

Twisting wires together is a bad Idea, easy yes, but bad practice.
Solder wires together or use spade/bullet lugs and a crimping tool. If you don't have a crimping tool and you're not gunna use it much you can pick up el-cheapo packs at auto stores for bugger all usually with a crimping tool and some lugs in there too.

Don't wrap wires around fuses and plug em back in... Tension on the wire could pull the fuse out, the wire can unravel a bit and make a connection bypassing the fuse (can start fires in extreme cases). There's lots of reasons not to do this. Better option is to splice into the wire when it comes out of the fuse box again if you need to run from that circuit.

Also, if the panels have permanent ground and are hooked up to ciggy lighter fuse, they will only work when the key is in at least the accessory or on positions and they will remain on even if the door is closed. Usually when your doors open, your getting into or out of the car without the keys in the ignition, i.e. no power to the logos, you'll hardly ever see them working...

Don't get me wrong, I'm not having a go, just don't like to encourage bad practice.

To answer the question, Best way to wire them up IMO would be to find a permanent positive connection in a central location in the car (I'd be using the direct battery connection for the stereo in the centre console). Run a fuse (5 Amp would be more than needed I'd say) straight after this, then branch off after this into 2 single wires (one for each side of the car).
Run these around the back of the console, under the carpet and around to your door sill panels. Connect the wire to the positive wire of your light up emblem.

Have a look on the body of the car, back corner of where the door closes. There's a sprig with a rubber boot covering it. That's your door open/closed switch. Inside the car there is a wire running from this (under the plastic panel that extends down the side of the rear seat). You can splice the negative wire into this (This circuit is switched to ground.)

Wiring it this way, your sill lights will only come on when your door is open (The only time you want them working)

OK, ive done a set of these. First thing - do you have the circuit board - if not, youre stuffed and you should contact the seller and get the whole bizzo.

Now I found that the best spot to wire them up to is the interior lights in the rear view mirror. The best spot to splice them in is behind the pillar cover. The wires run up the right side of the windscreen behind the pillar cover. From memory, the one you are after is a green one with a black stripe (but check it first!). The black wire just needs to be earthed in a good spot.

i go tem 4 $80 got hole lot it has long wire 4 passenger side short wire on drivers with plugs on either ends.

yea i would agree with you TCGPX,I dont think the current coming though the kickplates would be that much so you could get away with the thin wires that it comes with and if your car is pre97(i think) you have the larger fuses it shuldnt unravel i did solder all the multistrand wire together when i did my cow horn lol. But yor right about not seeing it when you get in the car i didnt think of that one with the cow horn i only need it when im driving lol my badd.

Without the curcuit board, you will blow the LEDs the moment you hook them up. The circuit board is about 2cm square and normally sits under the drivers side of the dash.

if someone pputs apic up of the circuit board i can tell you how to make it out of parts ffrom jaycar.
