Doing timing belt on saturday! some question questions!

ok im going to buy these things
Banjo Alternator Belt 4PK0940 $29
Banjo P/S & Aircon Belt 6PK1080 $39
Gates Timing Belt T987 $139
but do i need a new tensioner and idler? because they're like $200 each

oh i got the water pump from the groupbuy from kempys awhile back...
just need to know if i should be replacing the tensioner and idler...
damn those things are expensive

These might be more palatable (and maybe not
. Part costs including commission, postage on top of prices listed:
Timing Belt Tensioner (MD308593) $98.10
Tensioner, Alternator (MD303884) $44.69
Pulley, Valve Timing (MD179597) $36.62

Yes make sure you do tensioner...... I did mine once without tensioner and it siezed not fun believe me

where are the price from?? i bought mine from AutoOne...just remember timing belt is definitely cheaper..

ROFL, repco quoted me about $300 for the timing belt alone.

I got my p/s and alt belt, both for around $30
Timing belt was $119.
Asian auto shop in Canley Vale.

^agreed. No point in doing the belt and having the tensioner fail on you.

Im Interested in this, can you give me a estimated quote that includes commison and postage to sydney

Only postage from Japan to Aus is missing. I can give an approximation on postage because it depends on what it is packaged with. The last set of these cost $7.80 each part to get to Australia (about $25)

damn... looks like ill just be helping out on DIY day then...
anyway found this...
$210 for all 3 belts and the tensioner

Make sure you mark the old belt when taking it off. Mark the new belt and it will let you know if you have your timing right or not. Also make sure you have the tool to take the balancer off.

make sure you turn the engine round 3 or 4 times by hand to mark sure the timing marks line up each pass.

+1 make sure of this and mark again using whiteout pen to make sure no stuff ups

Good god, I wouldnt move the engine an inch! Mark the old one, pull it off, put the new one on. The longer its off & more you move the engine, the more chance you have of f**king it up.
