Im looking at two different Used brakes....
Both are in great condition...
They are:
Item: Front pair genuine PORSCHE 6-spot brakes, including PORSCHE brakepads (99% unused) and PORSCHE 353mmx34mm crossdrilled discs.
Item Condition: Excellent. Inspection welcome for serious buyers.
Reason for Selling: Not needed at the moment, snap them up before we think of something to put them on!
Item: Front pair BREMBO 4-spot brakes + 2nd hand pads, + slotted discs
Item Condition: Great
Reason for Selling: Not needed
Extra Info: Came off a Honda DC5 Type-R Integra.
Looking a smidge under a grand for the brembo's... And about $1800 for the porsche...
brembos will fit under 17s and the porsche under 18s...
opinions?

Yeah i saw them the other day as well, just a exxie for me at this stage (i know they are a bargin though). You have GPX ones at the moment dont you. I might consider buying yours off you if you do buy these, so that might help with the decision making

not sure on the porsche ones... but the brembo's off the integra would fit... I've swapped wheels with a teggie before without a problem...

What size are the Brembo rotors? The 354mm Porsche ones are too big, the 330mm UAS ones I have are too big. The pads simply wont heat up to operating temperature on daily driving. My next brake upgrade will be a Brembo, but I'll be down sizing to something like 310 - 300mm.

Already asked about rotor size on them...
Aparently they only just fit under 17s so im assuming 330mm or so...
i dont drive my car daily... if i drive it, its only for long drives (1-3 hours) and hopefully some track days soon..

Yeah, the other problem I run into thou, is that when selecting a pad, I cant choose a high spec race pad like an EBC... I cant even heat them up on the track! I have to use a standard pad on the track - thats all good & well, they stop on a dime, but I use upto 50% of the pad after a days track use. So, Im stuck between a rock & a hard place, on the street the standard pads dont heat up enough & I have to use excessive force to pull the car up - and when you dont use the brake in 5 minutes, then temp drops to low again & you face the same issue. On the track they heat up perfectly & work like a charm - but I use over half the pad. If I went for a better pad, it would be even more useless on the street & still useless on the track! Yet I wouldnt wear half as much of it down...
So Its a fine line to tread, but I've decided on my 160kw track used car, 330mm is just too big. I reckon I'll gor a for a 300mm setup, with a mid range pad like EBC green. That size & pad combo I reckon would be perfect - yet untested.
Having said all that, I have heard rumors of a pad coming out from Japan, that is apparently just as good cold as is hot. Dont know if I can hold my breath for that long thou... adding pad replacement cost to my nos & tyre bill is really starting to make my track days very expensive!

Just spoke to a performance shop near me...
Getting pics of the porsche brakes to send them...
They said the porsche brakes (6spots) are worth $3500 per caliper new...
so they said at $1800 they are an absolute steal..
they said they can also get pads that dont wear, yet heat up very fast...
i dont care about wear anyway... never even drive the bloody thing...
oh gawd, 353mm discs with a porsche caliper is going to look sexy as!!

I knew you wouldn't listen to me.
They will look hot, but they will be useless. Dont say I didn't warn you!
Of course the shop has "pads that will heat up fast".....

hehehhee...
Sam... dont turbo your car... or at least budget a lot more....
hehehe that sounds familiar...
i really dont think these could be that bad... after all they are standard porsche brakes...
Rather than a set of Group A HSV racing brakes (pretty sure thats bens), these were initially built for a street car...

the other reason is the fact they are SO DAMN MASSIVE! should look good at shows...
especially with the "Porsche" written on the caliper
