Exhaust

Im thinking of getting a Blitz realize TT to replace the stock exhaust on my version R. Specs of the one ive found are:
FTO type DE3A engine type 6A12 year system 94/10-99/08 pipe diameter φ60 tail diameter φ100 number of partitions 2 remark MIVEC cars, GP GPX commodity number 23440.
The reason im looking at this is supposedly it is a quieter than most while still having sports performance. And I think I can get it landed for under $1000. OK now the question. Given that I have a set of RPW extractors already fitted to the car, is this exhaust a good match to enable me to get a KW or 2 more out of the car while retaining the ability to hear myself think while driving?
Anyone know anyhing about this model that they can share with me?

if you want it to be quieter all you need to do is change out the back muffler as that gives you the most sound and will not change the power out come.
Best thing to do is go down to the shop and get them to try a number of diferent ones on untill you find the right sounding one for you.

+1 the sound is 'amplified' by rear muffler type however a couple of things do change if you have a cat it will be slightly quieter and make sure you keep a resinator or will be insanely loud
I found mine was very nice just driving around daily 2 1/2 inch no cat, with resinator and cannon was only really loud when i opened it up over 4000 revs but that sounded sweet
back to normal driving though it was just slight noise even cruising at 100kph was under the radar to speak

I agree that the muffler swap idea will definitely be the best option, its much cheaper to do and it wont negatively affect the performance

What is the point of Dwayne spending so much cash on a system he is literally throwing away???
I mean get any good exhaust bender and he will be able to give you something just as good.
There are many mufflers out there that flow much better than the standard but produce nowhere near the noise. Think about most turbos/big cube vehicles.
I've got a custom magnaflow system on my car, nowhere near as loud as most FTO's.
I believe a mandrel bent system with good highflow cat & muffler and maybe say a BMG sealed intake will give you better results than the Blitz unit (similar costs).

The blitz isnt a cannon type so it wont be too loud. If it sounds anything like the superdragger you got yourself a sweet exhaust. The backbox type exhausts compared with my apexi N1, with extractors and high flow cat are much quieter. For me personally I like to have my car loud as tits as it increases the experience of driving.
On a highway around 100km/h at 2500-3000 rpm mine makes a very nice sound. Totally liveable growl. Up over 4500 rpm there is definately a pitch change into more a shriek. I dont know why it shrieks, maybe something to do with the first change of fluids after installing the exhaust. It is very rudely loud but the sound is priceless, as is the looks on peoples faces.
Hope that helps dwayne

I agree its not hard to make a good flowing zorst. I'm not so convinced that the extra dollars for mandrel bent is worth it, the gain you get for the extra dollar seems pointless in this car.
I have my own intake with UAS pipe, my own custom zorst which is not that expensive and i have never had a NA fto beat me - ever.

True true but when Dwayne is counting every KW in his car and is willing to fork out the money why not have that tiny less restriction. Ive never dragged another FTO before! Dont think it will be that competitive anyway!

yeah good point, I nice finished mandrel bent system sure does look good but costs twice as much if it really is mandrel bent. I god pipe bender does a good job.
A member here did the manual conversion which is by far the best power upgrade, even then i was still going good.
I put it down to my fantastic oil

OK, went to an exhaust shop yesterday to find out more.Got quoted over 1300 dollars and that isnt for anything stainless steel other than the exhaust tip and that doesnt include any brands ive ever heard of. Did include a high flow cat though.
Have to say, importing is looking better at this point.

Please tell me thats for mandrel bends?
You got to shop around, when i got quotes for mine, the prices ranged from $450 to $1200

. I find the bigger places charge a lot more and dont do any better than a little mum and pop place's.
I also agree with KJ about mandrel bends being a waste of money.

$1300 seems a bit much. Depending on the cat and muffler provided it may or may not be a good deal. Try and make sure it's a metal high flow cat (ceramic is ok but do break down especially under extreme conditions). I have to say it does seem a bit expensive though.
Awhile ago, i paid $880 for a metal high flow cat 3.5", with stainless piping mandrel bent from the rear axle back with a chamber/box high flow muffler and a tip to finish it off. Even with stock extractors, y pipe and piping to the rear axle, it was good for 116kw atw while maintaining some low down.

I paid $1400 for a 2.5" system, mandrel bent, steel cat, all in stainless - from the back of the RPW's to the dual tips. They used Herrod brand for the resonator & muffler. A good brand usually found on V8's. Nice note & not deafening by any means.

Yeah, $250 of the 1300 was for the mandrel bends. Not stainless though.
