hi there i am new to this fourm so sorry if this has already been talked about. i have heard that the mitsubishi fto gp version (R) is a rare car to find these days. recently i found one for sale the only problem is that it is a auto 5 speed. the question that i have for you guys is do you think that i should buy it any way or maby just buy a fto gpx 5 speed manual. this will be my first car as i am 16 at the moment. o and another quick question is what is the 0 to 100 km time of the two thanks very much for your time.

If you want a manual, then hold out for one ...
If you get the tip, you will be disapointed ... The only real difference is weight between the 2.. Get yourself a carbon fiber boot, and bonnet, and you will be lighter.. So then there should be no difference in the two ...

get a manual buddy ... once you start driving manual solid, theres a pretty noticable acceleration difference between the 2
i wish i bought the original 5speed manual gpx from the scamming dealer instead of my tiptronic gpvr

hmm yea true thanks for that ill have to test drive them both ... then again being 16 half dont even think i can test drive a car

. well i had a look at j spec imports just before ( thanks to the person above who sent me the link) and yea theirs no gpxs even yet but there should be soon. and yea i have seen a couple on ebay the main one i was looking at was at phantom motors (
http://www.phantommotors.com.au/showcar ... omsearch=y) there was one on ebay that was a manual gpvr with 30km on the clock but sadly it was 18gs a little out of my price range

hehe o well i can wait though only 16 but yea as long as the manuals do 0 to 100s in the 7 range then yea im happy.

Also be aware that you won't be able to get Comprehensive insurance for the car, because as a young driver, no insurance company will be willing to insure you on an import car for less then $3000+ a year.

. ill just have to go 3rd party and get a very good alarm system in the car. thanks very much for the offer bushido but i dont think ill be getting the car till 17 so you would have to wait a while lol and i still dont know if im 100% on the fto. im looking at other cars as well like mr2, celica 7th gen, honda type r and supra

well 3sgte i have a very good alarm system on mine. Lots of other goodies too

. All the other cars you mentioned would have very high kms if they are being sold at the same price as the fto. I only have third party fire and theft and i think its sufficient.
Happy shopping.

hmm very tempting i just noticed u live in nsw is that right ? im in qld:(. and xslurpee yea i have been going through this for like a year pretty obsessed arnt i lol

whats the average price for a fto gpx or vr that has about 60 k on the clock. the one i saw today was 13grand and yea it looked like it had been in the sun for about 20 years. it was so bad infact that i didnt even take it for a test drive just assumed that the trip would be raped. and yea a supra would have larger kms on but the 2jz reliabiliy would be through the roof. sure brake pads would have to be replaced but i couldnt see a n/a 5 speed manual supra having many troubles even if it did have 100k on clock

A supra is a supra and an Fto is well...an fto. So i guess its what you prefer driving. Fto will always be a major contender in its class and a supra is in a completely different class of vehicles (RWD supercar).
Supras are generally too much for a 16yo to handle anyway , no offence

lol none taken and yea defenetly would have to agree i find a supra is to large and hevay for a first car at 1430kg all the fuel is just being used to move the car .( still a unbelivable car though ) Very nice looking fto by the way ! what is the average kms on a tank for a fto i read that it was about 400km or some thing ? and one final question do these cars have a like lift kick you could say ( you would know what im talking about if you have driven a celica 2zz-ge) can u feel the mivec kick in.

dude the whale weighs in well over 1.5 ton and if you getting a supra it HAS TO BE TURBO'D ... or else well ... lol you can watch my FTO with L's on it overtake you
mivec sure kicks in at 5.5k and your car feels very responsive around that range and roars when 8k ... dude get an fto ... great car for its price i must say
check out the "car for sale" section and check out bushido's!

i average around 550-590km per tank. Mixed driving, i let it rip on more than a few occasions and steady chilled out driving as well. So its pretty good.
