Ok, let's clear this up.

I sold him my spare alternator a week ago. Yano, or at least his mechanic, is now claiming that the item I sent him is a 2 pin, GR alternator.

I can't see how this is in any way possible. It was removed from a MIVEC GPX engine that I have sitting at my house, no question about it.

Now, visually, I do not know the differences between the alternators or their plugs, but I felt I was safe to assume mine was a 4 pin GPX alternator because, well, see above reasoning...

Yano, is it possible you could post up some pictures of the alternator and its plug so that someone may identify what the problem is, if any?

Connector on gr only has 2 prongs/pins...not 4....

addtional 2 pins is to accomodate for the mivec....as informed by my mechanic, who know's his sh*t

Well thats a GR alternator... If that came off your spare engine Pete, then you got screwed on your spare engine purchase. Put up a pic of the engine.

This is a GPX, 4 pin alternator:

I8A4RE has personally inspected the alternator as well. Not sure why this was fitted to your engine pete, but rallymad here might have an answer...

Jesus Christ. What the f**k?

I can assure you I knew nothing about this and was not trying to screw you over in any way. I can't see how this has even happened.

As for my engine purchase, the engine is in my car and running fine, although this is the alternator off it. I had a reconditioned alternator (off the engine that was removed and is sitting at my house) put on the engine that I'm currently running. Both are GPX engines. When I went to the wreckers to inspect the engine, this alternator was bolted onto it and was left over as a spare after my engine transplant.

I have no idea how this has happened, other than that the owner of the car that my donor engine came out of was a complete moron. Yet how was the car running to be totaled (looks like he ran it into a pole) in the first place? I'll PM you in regards to refunding your money etc.

Yep, can confirm it is a GPX motor Bennoz. Not sure how Pete ended up with that GR alternator on the motor. He is concerned that it could have done damage. I would have though it would just mean the mivec would not work wouldn't it. I can remember a few people have had this problem in the past.

Feel sorry for Pete, he is young and needs our help ;)

I don't think he did it intentionally, he can hardly be left responsible based on his justification ;)

Good on you for refunding him his money pete.
