Hey guys, just got back from kwinana motorplex and I am very happy with the results! :D
I did 3 runs under my previous personal best. 14.802, 14.768 and the sexy 14.667!

This is an N/a FTO with only an air induction, exhaust and hypo clutch.

that is awesome effort matey, congrats! certainly very impressive for an NA FTO for such minimal mods... I dunno if it's the WA air or what have you, but you ppl seem to be churning out some really good times and HP over there hehehe...

...makes me very curious about the qtr mile times on my car now haha (seems we have similar mods performed anyway).

then again, you will see some 'freaks' out there like yours and GAV's...

what kind of wheels/tyres are you running?

well going by your time slips, you go have a faster time than 14.6 :P

your reaction time was quicker in the 14.76, so if u have a quicker reaction time, and do the same as what you did in the 14.66 you could get 14.63 :P

The tires I am using is are Kuhmo's er... supra something or other, they arnt too bad, but I wouldnt mind getting some Mickey T streets, on a wider rim! I still had wheelspin in 2nd (didnt flatshift) and a little bit in 3rd.(flatshift).

Also reaction time doesnt count towards the ET. only counts when I'm racing against someone else to the finish line.
Previous runs I got reaction times of 0.056, 0.078, etc.
I was getting used to the new clutch the whole night (my first run was 15.6!) I didnt expect to wheelspin so much, so I concentrated on lauching rather then good reaction times.

but its was great, I beat a bunch eg: S2000, sil-80ty, 200sx,commadore's, WRX, also... I got the jump on all these skylines for the first half, then their huge turbos come in and pass me in the second :( aint half bad for a NA FF!

I also lost to this landcruiser with a turbo soarer engine in it! he just launches it with those massive wheels, he got a 14.2! Damn he is fast!

kumho supra ecsta 712, yeah they are great tyres actually

so you beat all those cars to the 1/4 mile??

what is the 1/4 mile time for a WRX normally?

lol  I never would have thought the FTO could be beaten by a Landcruiser, but with a turbo anything is possible.

According to Subaru they should run mid-14s in stock form. Their 1/4 times are kinda disappointing when compared to their speed off the line.

How did you launch to get a time of 14.6 sec?

I was still experimenting, but for the 14.6 run I reved to 6k and slowly let it naturally drop as the Xmas lights start then got my clutch to just engaging point as the last amber was lit (car now about 5k), slowly released the clutch while slightly squeezing the throttle, then when the clutch is nearly off I give more throttle at a moderately quick but smooth pace and go from there ready to hit 2nd. *phew* what an effort to go in a straight line :P

i remember someone once told me, launching off the line is an artform in itself... your car may have bags of power, but if you dunno how to launch, your ET times will suffer... so yeah, once you get your launches sorted spot-on, you'll be amazed what times you'll be able to run... the flipside to it is that themore you practice, the quicker you wear the gearbox/clutch out LoL... don't you just love motorsport haha

i run those same tyres
great in the dry

i rate sumitomo for the best wet weather tyres for cheapies ($120, 3 years ago)

GR Tip in the heat of the day.
Well done.
