painting a door

does anybody here know how i should go about painting a door?...its a purple door and my car is silver

i called autobarn and they said that if your jus painting a door they can mix up a can for me for 30$ and its a 100mL can

dunno if its enough...they told me to give them the color code...i checked the engine bay and its got on it A34...thats correct yea? for the metallic silver

is there anything i hsould do before and after i spray it? cause ive nver painted it before...shoudl i put and undercoating of something on it?

Is the silver metallic? Non metallic surfaces do not require it. Obviously with spray cans you will not get the air pressure require to get a smooth coat. The coat will prob look like the surface of an orange. Let the pain dry for a day wet sand with 1500 grit, 1000, then 800 until the face is smooth to touch. You will then need a buffer (not the cheap 40 buck ones from supercheap but the one which is more like an angle grinder) get some cutting paste, and finish off with a wax.

This is my first attempt at spraying. Had no clue but youtube when I started

Finish after the cutting compound only. Still had polish etc. I used a spray gun and compressor. Paint was $50.00 for a litre, $20 for clear. I think I did 3-4 coats of base and about 4-5 coats of clear.

YOur suppose to sand the other way round

that looks tops ^^^

its given me a little confidence to give it a go next time. Then i look at the custom colour of my car and all hope is lost.
