well she is after another car and unfortunatly she wants a wagon

I am leaning towards a v6 magna as pretty reliable and she should handle it (apart from that awful steering lock) but also thinking of a falcon wagon?

any other ideas guys? only want to spend about 6k, as will be buying a new X-trail next year :D

the reason is her current CA lancer although in great condition and still low k's (130xxx not bad for a 1990 model) just doesnt have the power and room she needs

Ford or Olden wagon would be my choice....

a few mechanics I know tend to not speak highly of the older Magna's.....

You could try a Lantra Sportswagon...

yeah I like the ford wagon also but have worked on a few magnas and no real majors plus I fix any probs myself bonus is with magna or ford that parts are very easily available I wont buy holden not because they are crap but I just think they are damn ugly

As if i'll let her drive one of them, it would also be mine 8O She has driven my FTO and is even too scared to put her foot flat :!: She wouldnt even accelerate hard enough to make it drop down a gear when it was a tip box

I say VR4 Leggy too - then what you could do is pull the motor out of it & put it in your car, then put the FTO motor in the leggy! Its all plug & play! :D

What about an RS Poobaru ... Give her an AWD platform ... Not sure what they are going for second hand, but could be a good option ...

@ Ben I still have a 6a13tt  (complete vr4 wreck shame it still sits in nz :( ) but thats what next years project will be

@ Rock it I will never buy a subaru they would have to be some of the most unreliable most pain inthe arse expensive cars to run that I have ever encountered 8O

So I have a better look over the weekend now that things are getting back to normal since xmas still leaning towards falcon/magna

Well our interpretations of plug & play appear to differ. By about 20 grand & 18 months

oh my god for 6 grand you fkers are dreaming vr4

libero/lancer wagon (easy maintenance)

ford or holden is your best bet, but dont count on reliability at that price ;)

best bet jump it double, 12 grand and youll get something thatll last u 6 months

PS

I have seen two VR4s for around the 5-6k mark from a car yard and they looked in great condition.
