just wondering because im considering importing some time in the future

is it worth it in the end?
does it end up costing you more or less if you import it?

why did it get stuck in customs/compliance?

ended up costing at least 22,000 with rego and insurance fully comp (however that hasn't happened yet)
Mate if u really want a car now i'd suggest looking around for a car you like at a dealer with warranty and go for it as for the time and money it has cost me its a waste.
Would have cost 3500 less if i'd stayed with the car you see in pic but traded to a one with lower kms and higher specs + extras.

Worst thing is you cannot truely know if the car is in good condition as you don't get to try before you buy at auctions! Still have yet to get a straight answer as to why it got held up nobody knew what happened it got lost and paperwork wasn't correct. They've given me so many stories i've lost track!

If you look on the right I think that's a pretty exhaustive list of all the fees... FOB + shipping + import duty + GST + commission for importer + about 2k for compliance. Another 1k or so for registration. So that Legnum is only $5.7k but it works out to be about $11.5k all up to get it complied completely (but not including registration)

Btw that Legnum looks like an absolute weapon haha

All depends as I did mine as personal import and apart from the actual shipping/transporting side of things, mine only cost around 300 to comply + rego, I did however do all the required work myself

i notice a while ago because i was considering importing one rather than buying an fto, that bmw z3 were fairly cheap over there but didnt get one because i thought the import cost would be to high, they have a lot of nice cheap jag coups for sale as well

edit: also what is involved in compliance?
what kind of work did you have to do ?
how long did it take you?
how much did parts cost?
