Front bar repair

Well as some of you may know I ripped my front bar off and ripped off the passenger side wheel arch mounting point. FARKKKKK!!!!

Anyway, here is the repair.

I forgot to take a pic of the piece broken in two. But you will get the idea from this fabulous paint pic....
So I used a glue gun to glue the two piece back together and then fibreglassed the underside.
Image

Then trimmed and drilled holes. This is so that resin can fill these and give a stronger bond when I fibreglass the top. I also grinded away a lot of the old of piece that was glued in.

Top fibreglassed

Then trimmed up....

And fitted. It actually sits way better than it did before.

While I was fixing this I got bored and thought I would make some headlight covers.

Trimmed some and fitted

Not far off finishing, I will paint these black and post some more pics.

Also I brought a welder a while back now and thought I would make my old man some bar stools.

Still far off from being a pro at welding but getting better and better each time.

Almost finished just got to put some wooden tops on.

Awesome 8)

I made some stools once, used flywheels as the bases & crankshafts as the body, then just wacked on some cushy tops.

Do you want eyelids or full covers like mine, I can do either.

Full covers as they would be good for the track and also somthing away from the normal for car shows.

Are you just doing stick on design Simon?
Like 3M job.
Or are you lipping the bottoms so they can sit on top of the headlights by their own free ability?

They are a good headlight protector, and heavily tossing up for ours as it's sits outside all the time.

they would have to be clip on as you could not keep them on at night, as there would not be a lot of light coming through it.

That's true Az, however I'm not certain of Simons intent.
Eyelids would be a definite 3M job as per most cars
The full covers though, he would need to keep a bit more fibreglass on the top/ bottom, unless those images simply dont show the lips to clip onto the ridges of the headlights.

Got some more supplies today so I should have the first set done by the end of this weekend.

Now in terms of how they are attached, it can be done in a few different ways. At the moment which you cant see by the pics I have actually molded them to attach to mounting bolt that hold the headlamp in (ill get pics tomorrow) which I reckon will be more than enough to hold them in place.

I have thought about putting a lip on the bottom which is easy to do but the only problem is there is not enough gap between headlamp and the front bar. 3m tape is an absolute last resort, I want to make them so that they do not need an adhesive.

Protect headlights...

In that case Simon I'll take a pair also, the full covers.

I suppose our bar sags, so there is a gap...
