Ok so I am pretty sure my tappets need changing.. (given that when I am in low revs I can hear a tapping type noise in the revs..)
However I am just wondering if someone can explain to me what the tappets are and what they do?
And if they are 'tapping' what does this effect?
Thanks
(also anyone up for changing them for me? There are cases of beer up for grabs

haha)

Try doing a oil flush and some new oil and filter I changed mine a bit back and the tap came back did oil change and was perfect after if its still tapping after that then good luck its a big job I had all my stuff like timing belt gaskets seals tappets done for a grand and that's pretty cheap

Mivec. So the fun one

haha
I'm honestly just guessing it's tappets, whenever Im driving in low range revs it sounds a bit tappy or ticky

For mivec, its the non replacing ones, they're adjustable. But dood don't worry too much about it, my car has tappet noise too on warm idle. Guys at the DIY day thought it was no biggie - I damn well hope it isn't

used to have it. but it went away after 3 oil changes.
Added LiquiMoly tappet stop noise in my last 5W-40 oil, but it did not work. Until i changed to 10W-40 oil, added LiquiMoly MoS2 Anti-friction and there are almost no noise to the tappets now.
That works for me.
