stepper motor issue?

hey guys

my car has been stalling when i dont drive it for a while, im thinking its probably the stepper motor

however after reading through all the other threads about the stepper

im not too sure now. because all the other threads say when your car is in idle your revs are more than 1000

well when my car is in idle my revs are so low i feel the car shaking slightly,

the rev counter is sitting below 200, not thousand, 200, im not even sure how my car is still running with the revs that low

any ideas?

Stepper.

It should only idle over 1000rpm when it is cold. When it is warm it should idle 750 +/- 50.

200 is extremely too low and I am also surprised it is still running.

How long has it been idling like that for? Did it just happen or slowly got worse and worse?

Same, mine sits at about 200 once warm...always has since i've had it. Lately when i turn the engine off though i've noticed the engine makes a sound that isn't too savoury.

kuran you can adjust your idle using the idle adjustment screw. Set it to the limits I said above

its been like that for a while now, i never really paid attention to the idling, at first i thought my alternator or battery was stuffed because my light would dim and air-con would not be as cold whenever i stopped at the lights or stop anywhere idling. I went to a auto electrician and he said the battery and the alternator is fine but it may be a idling issue because my car would stall at times on cold starts, and then i realised thatmy idling was so low its causing the the voltmetre to drop because its not spinning the alternator fast enough

anyways heres a pretty picture of what the idling is during the day

and heres one at night with the light on ( a lot lower than during the day)

do you guys think its most likely the stepper?

Yes I do.

You could also see if there is any adjustment in the idle screw as well until you get the new stepper.

BTW that is idling at about 600 with lights off and 500 with lights on ;)
