I haven't driven tip much (only off the lights in first gear to the speed limit

)
and was wondering if someone could give me tips on it and gear change on what revs at what speed when gearing up + down.
Thanks ;D

7500rpm.
If you've ever watched your rev counter when you floor it in auto mode it shifts up at 7.5k.
Hits mivec then changes and sounds boss.
But thats just me, others may be different.

Shift at 3000 RPM and you won't be pulled over by the police (as much).
Or change just before the rev limiter kicks in, which is strangely around 7500RPM

limiter should be around 8250RPM
but drive as though you would normal manual it just gives you better freedom and control for more spirited drives

i thought in auto it shifts like you would in tip and saves it to the ecu??
And that doesn't really help me as it's my first car i don't have much experience in a manual and i want to know when going from third to second then first what km/hour to shift down at.

yeah it does so for a limited affect but human instinct is usually better
I used to shift from 3rd to 2nd anywhere up 100KPH depending on if i was flooring it or just slowing down at which point just suit yourself, but I neve3r shifted from 2nd to 1st as never felt need to do so and I dont believe its good for box esp if doing around 30KPH or so
But end of day just convert to manual and problem solved

Just take your car to a quiet area and learn the car yourself, that's how I did mine.
I very rarely look at the rev counter, instead I can feel the power output knowing when to shift.
Typically I shift from 1st to 2nd at 3000-3500 RPM (normal driving) and similar from 2nd to 3rd. I only shift to 4th when going above 70kmph and maintaining that speed.
Once you learn it properly take your shifts a bit higher so you know the limits better.
The main thing I hate about the ECU is downshifting automatically even when in tip mode...

Theres no set point for you to shift. Its all controlled by your driving style and your mood, eg.
If you're giving the car a hard run through "private road" you'd be shifting around 5-7k rpm, giving mivec and chance to kick in.
If you're driving through town, you'd only want to be shifting around 2-3k rpm. Apart from that, its all about feel, if you feel the car is straining too hard for what you're doing, maybe you should shift. If you want that extra kick to overtake that douche that keeps slowing down when the road merges into one lane, shift at 8k.

Didn't you learn anything last night?
Change up 500rpm before the rev limiter if you're going hard. By the time it changes gear you'll be sweet. As for changing down, I normally let it do it it's self but either way if you are changing up or down at the wrong time, it simply wont let you do it.

That sounds right to me...
1st gear - shift up @ 20km/hr
2nd - 40km/hr
3rd - 60km/hr
4th - 80km/hr
5th - 100km/hr
Seems perfectly normal for a manual.

I find for downshifting, you have to kind of anticipate when you want to shift, and then do it ahead of time by a second or two before you normally would.
lag on the box side means that when 'you' want it to change and when 'it' will change are completely different.
upshift isn't too bad.
also downshifting 2 gears at a time can also be 'fun'

There is a tiny delay, but you need to consider how much time it takes to physically change gears in a manual car... You'll find that the difference is negligible.
