GPX rev-counter redline starts at 6.5k?

Hi,
I noticed a lot of FTO's rev-counter redline's start at 8000 RPM and end at 9000 RPM (or something like that).
Mine starts at 6500 RPM and ends at 8000 RPM.
I have a '96 GPX manual and I'm wondering if this is normal, or if my clusters have been switched with a GS's or something?
It does rev up to 8000 RPM, but it's the possibility that the number of km's on my odometer isn't correct that's worrying me.
Thanks.

Maybe it's not a genuine GPX?
Have you verified your chassis number in ASA?
And your tach guage won't have any effect on your odometer.

Yeah I ran the VIN through dstocks decoder and it's definitely a GPX.

It would though if the entire instrument cluster was swapped, right?

That's very unusual. What rev range do you hit when you floor it before it shifts?

It's a manual.

You should chuck up some pics of your car.

Yeah, the actual kms of the vehicle would not be correct if the cluster has been changed. It would be showing the kms from the vehicle the cluster was sourced from. Post up a pic.

Sounds like a GS tach indeed.

Oh don't scare us... a GS?!!!
With a mivec attached?
Also, this may sound like a stupid question but can mivec be added to a GS? Would it be worth it in terms of cost (if it can be done)

lol: you didnt read the posts above properly. Is a GPX with possibly a GS cluster.
Wont effect the car at all. The car will rev to the normal levels.

It's not this that worries me. It's the fact that I have no idea how many km's it has actually done. Probably a lot more than 81k I'd imagine
Anyway, here's a pic.

Yeah that's not a GPX cluster.
Someone has switched them and that's bad news.
If the km's were high enough to warrant them switching clusters, who knows how many it has.
Maybe call up your local road authorities. If it's been previously registered the km's would have been recorded and you might know a realistic figure.

Pretty sure it's full of awesomeness when you hit the limiter at 8250rpm while watching your rev-count shoot off the meter.

God forbid anybody actually ever hit 8250 and murder their car slowly

TS just did a try on maximum rev. that he could achieve on his GS cluster GPX.
Ohhh shat, forgot the speedometer. Hmm, he did it on neutral.. i guess.

Unfortunately I'm the first Aus owner (I bought if from a dealer who imports and sells Japanese cars).
I knew to look out for wound back odometers when buying, but being a noob at cars I didn't realise they could just switch entire clusters like that.
I guess if the timing belt goes I'll have to ring Today Tonight
