i have noticed when mivec kicks in for my car it doesnt seem to be kickin in as hard as i would thought it would. I have heard when VTEC YO!!!!! kicks in for a honda type R it kicks in really hard and u can feel it. FOR my GPX mivec fto with a TIPTRONIC gearbox it jus has no scream when hitting the 5000-5500 rev range but no significant kick??? is it jus me or does other ppl feel the same??

No, it doesn't give you any surge of acceleration.
All the tricky MIVEC stuff does is enable the engine to provide usable torque up to 8000rpm.
The torque at say 6300rpm isn't any higher than the torque at 5200rpm.
If you do feel any kind of "kick", chances are it's just the torque ramping back up from a dropoff that can occur around 5700rpm... just after the MIVEC cams and timing start being used.
And yes, VTEC YO!!!!! is a different kettle of fish!

ive had this conversation with a lot of my honda friends....do you think there is any merit behind the argument that becasue the fto is a v6, it has much smoother power delivery than a 4...and hence no surge when mivec kicks in?
thats pretty much all i can think of

a smoother delivery means less stress on engine and drivetrain

...and also less reliance on that "kick" to perform well.
Lets face it, nobody bought their FTO because they were the quickest car on the road. It is about the complete experience. And I know which car I would rather be walking towards, keys in hand.

mivec and v-tec work on the same principals, but mivec use a n entirely different system to make it happen. This results in v-tec giving a hard kick on changeover but mivec being relatively smooth.

i guess once you chuck a turbo into the MIVEC engine, all that 'kick' means nothing anymore LoL...
