Hi all, anyone here is an oil expert? eversince i changed my engine oil i noticed there is oil dripping every morning i started the car.. i'm using redline 5w-40, could it be changing the grade of the oil would causes this to happen? what is the recomended oil grade for the fto? i'm living where the temp. is 28-35 C all year round..thanks

Did you do up the sump plug and oil filter tight?

yup it is tight, the leaks come from the crankshaft seal, the car done 250k km, almost had the redline in arnd 10k km now, going to sent her for service, so i'm wondering what oil grade to get..

Different oil will only kinda mask the problem not solve it, BTW I have always used 10-40 never an issue except cam/crank seals etc.

Also try cleaning down whole engine then running for hour or so to be able to trace any leaks effectivly

I take it you put the washer back on with the sump plug?

juz wondering if different oil grade would causes it to leak? because before this i was using shell semi-synt 10w-40 no leak at all

Yes, i've heard stories of people changed from 10w-40 to 0w-30 causing oil leak as it's thinner thus sips through any thinniest leak on your seals or gaskets.
It's not the oil problem but your seals and gaskets failed to do their job.

Other than the oil grade, some people experienced oil leak even on same oil grade but switched to different engine oil brand. That's because they got different additives in their oil.
Hence it could be your seals/gaskets already failed but some gunks/sh*ts still sticks/hold up the leak and your previous engine oil don't happens to have the cleaning additives which dissolve the gunks/sh*ts. So, when you serviced/flushed/switched to different oil, eg. redline got different additives in it, it cleanse off the gunks inside thus the new oil sips through the leak on your seal/gasket.

haha thats why its leaking im on 5 weight, should go back to 10w

lol @ changing oil to stop a leak.

Change your crank seal. Its one of those 'while your at it' jobs because the timing belt has got to come off, may as well do it & the water pump while you're there.
