I just purchased 4 x 225/35/18 Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Position (The better version of the RE050A)
for........... $1300 including postage
I went for a laugh to the local Bridgestone supplier to see what they would quote me.

Should be hear sometimes next week
Not sure when to put them on, rears still have the tiniest amount left as they've worn down way to quick...

Fronts still have about 30% left which is a bummer...

Yep, like so many things we pay a massive premium here in Aus

Haven't bought from Tirerack myself but know of many who do regularly in my motorsport circles and all speak very highly of both the service but especially the price

Jesus H... thats still $325 a tyre... my semis are under $250! They must be the best god damned tyre in the world!

The joys of having 18 inch rims and a tyre size that doesn't provide many options and those that do
well are quite expensive!

Valandis, will you pay tax once they come here? Plus how much is fitting/balancing per tire?

Nope as the tyres come to $892 so less than a grand hence no tax

Valandis, let us know how long it takes to ship etc. I guess for the more expensive tires it may be worth shipping from overseas.

Bennoz, how do you rate them? I remember reading that for semis they are not so good, at least compared to Advan and Toyo

Hence they're a quarter the price

So freight was about $400. Good to know, sadly they don't sell slicks...

Would 225-40-18 fit without scrubbing?

Because that makes my choices HUGE and with awesome semi slicks for about the same price as these
bridgestones... I think im getting a bit excited

The 235/45/17's I run only scrub at full lock and being semi slick R's they are more like 238-240/45/17's, this is due to street rubber being more rounded from the wall to the tread and the R's are a lot more sharper from the wall to the tread. So yep the 225/40/18's would be great

Yeah they'll fit! Im running 235/45/18s - no gaurd liners left though

Hmmm i remember when new the 225-35-18 were very close to rubbing with the shocks...

But i'll keep that in mind

Ahh yes, should have mentioned, i dont have normal shocks

They would only rub for about 200K's .

Absolutely! They're the only ones that give me some form of traction on takeoff.

They're in the other category of semi, more 'streeter' semi than say R888's. Not half as soft as those types of semi.

I've been through a few brands now, started on Falken RT615s, then the Hankook RS2s, Federal 595s, now these

And you rate these Kumho's the best?
How were the Federals? And are they the semi looking ones, or are those the RS or something?
I was looking at those Federal semi looking tires as they are really cheap, I think about $150 for 15s in Australia, but I am not sure of how good they are
