Squealing brake while driving.

Hi all
Last couple days i have noticed that as I'm driving I could hear a sqealing/whining noise from the left side of my car. I have deduced that it is related to my brakes, as the noise changes/reduces/stops during braking. I'm thinking my rear caliper isn't doing it's job properly and not completely pulling the pad off the
Rotor. However I am unsure of it is related to my foot brake or the hand brake. (I.e it's possible it could the be handbrake isn't completely disengaging - as I played with it this morning and the noise stopped.)
So couple questions:
1) any idea how to diagnose The issue properly?
2) any way of adjusting the hand brake?
3) If it is the caliper, am I better to
O/haul it or buy another?
Thanks
(hope that makes sense).
p.s.s I'm also wondering if this could be contributing to my wheel rattle at high speeds,
And iv also been informed I need to be looking at new or machining my rear rotors some time in the
Future...

Omg I swear, either Simon got dumber or getting impersonated!!
Cant even spell "Missus" right!
And Brendon, could be just the cable too tight or a semi siezed caliper...

I know there's one near the handbrake lever. I've never touched that so im not sure.
There are also a couple, one for each rear caliper located somewhere close to it. Sorry for being vague... lol.. But when I watched the Midas people do it, the guy loosened/tightened something which i believed was a handbrake cable...

Ok peeps, it's getting worse, any ideas/things I can check?
Don't think it's handbrake anymore, probably caliper..

How did this thread get so long without someone saying "You are out of brake pads" ???
A squeal means you're down to the low pad indicator - which happens to be a steel tab that squeals when it touches the disc... and gets worse the lower your pads get.

I understand this, but it doesn't explain why it's squealing whilst not braking?

Yes it does. It means your pads are now so low the tab is constantly touching..

Oh!

If that's all then that's sweet
Any recommendations for rear pads that I can pick up today/tomorrow?
