and a gajillion other links.

I've been watching them for a while now,

I'm thinking it is the new age FTO? (with a boxer engine, RWD and made by Toyota & Subaru ),
It shares a weight of just over a tonne, looks good, and has a 2L engine putting out approx 150ish KW. Should be a fun little coupe.

I personally like them, and am looking forward to them coming out.

highly doubt it will ever come to be.
The day of sports cars is dying.

Annoying little womens make up cars and soccer mom 4x4s are becoming the norm now.

Even the Detroit, I think motor show was filled with annoying little buzz boxes, hardly a glimmer of muscle anywhere... says something in my opinion.

I agree, since 2000 things have really moved away from the sports car. (much to my disgust!)
that's why I was so excited about this!
Go on the Toyota and Subaru websites and they both say coming soon. It's official, it will be launched this year and it's likely to be around 40k mark (according to rumors)

Yeah, they're already here... and i want one.

Will wait till either the turbo version arrives, or till the yanks make a kit for them.

I hate how the rear guards are like a Hyundai. The other version looks better IMO. Will post up pics later to show you what I'm talking about

They have been experimenting with a turbo on the BRZ, so it's definitely possible. I doubt we will see that variant for another few years however.

It really is a modern age FTO that's more refined and is meant to give the same excitement, but in RWD.

Unfortunately Mitsubishi won't ever revive the FTO, there is talk of them even getting rid of the EVO to just focus on everyday cars...

The EVO is dead already... that is old news, and I'm next to positive confirmed news.
Toyota stopped years ago making actual 'sports cars' with the last being the supposed mr2 spyder.

I could well be wrong, and so be it if I am, but I simply have an eary feeling we just won't see this car on the road here for some reason, or atleast not the fire breathing 'sports car' we all want it to be, everyone else is moving away from it, bar Nissan.
Even Mazda is killing off their line of 'sports cars' for sports models like the horrid 3 series with a face only a mother could love, and she'd have to be blind...

I do agree however with Kustom... 8O the original concept looked better, reminds me of the original X concept for the final EVO.

That shape is also very reminescent of an old TV Star car which I still today think could pull off 'modern'

How can you not believe it will hit the road here? Its literally 100% confirmed to go into production in its current form.

Toyota said in a press statement that they want to recapture the image they once had with all the sports cars and this is the first step forward. They are currently working on the Supra successor.

You know its coming when Toyota have it on their Australian webpage: http://www.toyota.com.au/86

Sorry to say, its got the Hyundai ass

And lol at all those calling it an FTO replacement that just happens to be a rear wheel drive. Its the size of of a 370Z and is the theoretical successor to the AE86 Trueno / Sprinter.

 yes but I believe it shares the same spirit as our cars, nimble, tight cornering, light, 140ish kw NA, average bottom end beautiful top,
And it looks sweet!
Agree on the Hyundai back end, also reminds me of a BMW..

Either way I'm excited, hoping it is everything I want it to be, then in a few years I'll pick up a used one!
