Passenger door lock problem?

Hey guys,
currently having a problem with the passenger side door where sometimes the door won't shut properly. It acts like the lock on the door is activated even though it's unlocked.
I tried using the key on the outside to fiddle with it but that only works 50% of the time. Even when the door looks closed it makes a loud thud like it wasn't meant to be shut.
Is there some sort of lock mechanism that I can replace to fix this? Or is it a different issue?
Thanks

spray some wd40 onto the locking latch.

Just a bump on this.
Still having the issue. It seems when it's not closed properly (the loud thud when shutting) if I turn corners on a fairly sharp angle the sensor goes off saying it's not shut (when it is).
Any part which I can replace to fix this?

Could it be a sensor issue on the inside of the door under the latch?

It's a mechanical problem with the door not latching on as it should most of the time which is causing the sensor issue

Test the latch in your door by, open your door, manually push the latch in the door to the closed position with a screwdriver, pull the door handle and see if the latch opens correctly, doing this my help you determine if it works correctly and smoothly. The latch mechanism could be dry/un-lubed and not closing all the way.
Also has anything happened to your door which could have bent the hinges?

Ah. Perhaps the bar that the door latches onto is loose, or the latch on the door is having trouble. Ive heard that dust and other crap can get into it. Try giving it a clean, if not, might be an idea to research a little into a new latch. Cant really help much regarding that, apart from "try cleaning it - that worked for me!"

Its the old & weak locking actuator failing. Mitsubishi replacements are priced out of the universe, so the most common fix is to use aftermarket actuators.

He talks about buying them from Maplins (UK), we buy them from Jaycar. There's 2 types, a master & a slave. You just need a slave.
I've got 2 of them in my car, there's 2 in the mrs car. It's about a half hour job. You can also buy 4 packs of them from Super Cheap etc.
I usually buy 4 pack cause I go through so many of them & bulk buying gets the better price.

I've actually got a pair of those lock mechanisms from last time when the passenger side wasn't locking, still havent installed them as I had trouble finding a good mounting point

Is the door flush with the body of the car when it is closed or does it stick out a little bit?

Yeah the door is flush. Sometimes it shuts perfectly, however it doesn't seem to be latching on 100% (the noise of the closing door sounds right, but if I take it a little fast around the corner the sensor goes off however)

Get a screw driver and manually try to work the lock mechanism (The part that hooks onto the bracket near your tyre psi pace card. It should spring into latched mode when working the mechanism half way through its travel. Pull the door handle and it should spring back. If it does not then spray it with some lubricant.
