I’m no sparky so I have no idea :?

Did they come with the power inverter? If not and you wire them up, you will end up frying the EL panels.

You will need to splice into the rear view mirror map light wires going up the drivers side A pillar.

This ^^

You cant use the door switch as its just an earth (no power running through it).

If you have the complete unit, it just plugs straight in, under the dash..

90% of the time the wires are cut though. Every set ive got from Japan so far has this issue.

it has an inverter.

I'll check for that plug under the dash but, wasn't this plug only for the cars that had the kick plates fitted from the factory?

the looms from factory had the connection as it was only a tap.
Meant that when someone wanted the kick plate option they simply plugged them in.
Saves making a seperate wiring harness.

Yeah the plug from the inverter is a double jack. Unplug the top right hand plug from the set of wires near the inner fuse box.. Plug that into the inverter jack, then plug the inverter into the board...

All done...

Are there any after market versions of the inverter? Mines screwed up.

You can use any EL inverter. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/12V-DC-AC-in ... 4d003e1556

I have tested several different inverters and they all work fine. You just need to make sure it can power the amount of surface area of the EL panel

What is the ratings to the inverter?

Power ratings do not matter for EL inverters as they work with any EL panel, kick plates included.

The easiest way to find out how much power you need is by surface area of the panel, and usually wherever you buy the inverter from will have listed how much that inverter can power.

You can use a more powerful inverter, as the panel will only draw the power it needs. But keep in mind the larger the inverter the louder it will whine/buzz.

As I said before, I have tested about 20 different EL inverters (large and small) with my kick plates and they have all worked fine.

I have seen them in a few electronics stores here and they were around $15-$20 each for a small one.
