okay, so the latest,
got the new engine out of the front cut and into my car, connected everything up, all wiring is connected and correct
spark plugs are connected properly and in the right order, i double checked just before,
i havnt touched the timing belt, and it is from rolin auto imports so tested and works etc,
finishing connecting it up and go to start it,
wont start, sounds like timing is out and for some reason my orange oil warning light is on,
any suggestions, apart from burn it

is crank angle sensor connected?
does it turn over or just nothing?
run a error code check most likely to be electrical

yeah, i put the timing case back on this morning, the wire is plugged in and not pinched or anything and i was careful not to damage it,

No, i did that once and blew up the voltage regulator in my alternator and fried an ECU.... :/ you got the wrong terminal.

I believe the terminal is upside down to what you see in the pics.
I tried this once and got nothing from the ECU, no codes, no response, nothing

I can't help with manual code, because I couldn't get it to work on mine
The engine has been tested! You installed it and no start up!
Go back to basics air-spark-fuel, check you have fuel flow, spark at the plugs and air flow.
Triple check all wiring, all vaccum hoses, fuel lines etc......(there must be something left disconnected) go through your workshop manual and find all sensor wiring and then check it is connected.
Did you use your old ECU or the half cut ECU?
Oil light on!.......Silly questions.......You put oil in?.......The sump plug is fitted?.......The oil pressure sensor wire is connected?

okay, so tomorrow i shall check i have spark at all plugs, fuel coming out of the top of the filter i guess is easiest,
as for vaccum hoses, if one is wrong or disconnected i have no idea haha,,
how did you manage to check your code Phil?

I didn't.........I ended up working out I had a bad stepper motor through elimination
I could take some pics of my engine (vaccum hoses) tomorrow, so you can check against them if you want.
Good tip for the unsure........Take pics of everything before you pull it apart, gives a great reference for putting it back together, I do it at work with my phone (I rebuilt a truck motor using this method

)

Check engine connections first, if no good then you might have to check wiring running from ECU to dial cluster, ECU to engine, you could have corroded wiring.
You can take out the dial cluster and you will see two plugs going to it, if you have a multi meter you can check continuity from each wire at dial cluster to same wire at ECU end to see if power is travelling through the wire, (and each wire to earth to see if you have a short).
You can do the same tests ECU end of wiring to engine end.
Maybe you need to shout me a trip to sunny Queensland
