Steper motor or TPS.

Give it time mate, the ECU has to relearn how to idle after being without power for so long.
Best thing to do is go for a long drive.
If that still doesn't fix it, then yeah, start looking at the stepper motor. You've probably got a spare on your old motor anyways.

yeah, when i went to main roads at lunch it decided to idle, but at 500 so i turned it up to 1000,
thats where i turned it down to yesterday and it was fine,
just not this morning,
then after work, it idled, only just, nearly stalled itself,
it now idles at about 1000
but it fluctuates, can go to almost stall state then come back to 1000 or evan 1200 then back down again, fluctuates over about 500 range
steper motor, is that the one on the bottom of the of the throttle correct?
ive been for a couple decent drives, shall go for more

Never ends

, Yes the stepper is the one on the bottom of the throttle body. TPS (throttle position sensor) is the one on the side of the throttle body and is the one you had plugged in wrong, so you may have killed it with giving it 12V instead of its normal 5V

.

Test the stepper. Sometimes they test faulty only when coils are hot.

may aswell continue on this post, lol
so i got my wheel allignment done today,
cant remember how much it was out, but it was out..... a lot
anyway, front left is still out by about 2mm,
we think it may be because one bolt in the lower control arm in welded, not bolted to the chassis,
the nut snapped the weld so i had welded up till i fix it, (will be getting fixed at work next week hopefully,
anyway, perhaps where its welded is maybe 2mm out from where it should be, could that be affecting why its not lining up properly, or could something be bent?
everything looks okay and theres no reason why it should be bent.

ill take a pic tonight if i can get a good one,
but at the rear of the lower control arm, where the two bolts go up into the subframe/ chassis, about level with the rear of the tyre, with a bracket that linda looks like this -u-
the u bracket with the sides flattened out and it sits upside down again the chassis, one of those bolts isnt in, so one side of that bracket is welded to the subframe
if the helps
ill see what pics i can get

Suffering a similar issue, just had a new idle motor put in, took the car for a long drive down to Wollongong and back, and each time I get to the lights, and the car drops to about 1000 rpm, it suddenly jumps up to 2000-2500 rpms and the car launches forward, not good when you have a jag in front of you at the lights.
Does anyone down what this issue could be?
I am thinking vacum hose leek.
Cheers,
FRE55H

When was the last time you cleaned the stepper motor.
disconnect the battery for an hour or 2 and it'll reset the ECU, and clean the stepper motor... only a 5 minute job
