Hi, just wondering if anyone has used or heard anything about PB coilovers? They are on ebay for $970 delivered to your door, i think they are made in Taiwan or somewhere. I'm not after anything expensive and my car doesnt hit the tracks up or anything just general road use and looking for a better alternative to paying the same amount for lower springs and new struts. Any feedback is appreciated.

I'd rather pay the money for a tried & tested spring & shock combo than for dodgy, rock hard, Taiwanese coilovers any day of the week...

I've decided to just go the BC Racing V1 series. They have them on ebay here in Australia for $1149 with free delivery. The spring rate on them is 8kg front and 6kg rear, does this sound good enough for street use. I've never had coilovers before so i dont know much about them, ideally, what parts would you recommend that i replace whilst getting these fitted? Cheers

If you're after performance handling, replace the suspension bushes with Polyurethane kits (either SuperPro or Nolathane). They'll ride a little firmer, but they'll last a lot longer and will handle heaps better as well

LOL, that's enough to vibrate your fillings out. Stock is 2.6 & 1.6kg..

I am using the BC Racing golds and I do quite like them.

If you order from BC Racing's website, you can get custom spring rates made up. I had them re-valved and re-sprung for 5kg at the front and 3kg at the back, even these at their softest settings are very firm for street use. I have just switched from 40 profile tyres to 45 profile and it is definitely more bearable. I personally would not go any firmer than this, with 40 profile tyres the ride was so unpleasant that I really stopped enjoying the car.

If you don't plan on taking the car onto the track, seriously consider just replacing the shocks.

I might be better off just getting a set of king springs and some kyb replacement shocks then and get all the guards rolled. What bushes should i replace and where could i get them from? And should i get lower drop links or just replace with standards ones?

Thats pretty much what im running. Having owned coilovers before, I have to say I prefer these and I believe that the car actually handles better (on the roads I travel). Unless you are doing track work, you wont realise the benefit.

The freight would really hurt. Springs are bulky and heavy. Ive got a blue set that look a little like that on the shelf. No idea what they are though. Ive had the king springs and am currently running Bennoz's Apexi's. Both are decent IMO.

Blue springs are usually Lovells. Have they got a part number on them at all?

My mate bought a set last night, $402 NZD posted.

Actually, thats not bad considering. Youd pay over $200 for a front set of king springs

$313 aud is what he paid, so really, quite a decent price

Actually thats come down a long way as well. I remember when it was $220 for just the fronts.

Where would be the best place to get a set of standard aftermarket kyb shocks? Contacted kyb dealer and they can only get rears in the adjustable type.

4 x KYB Gas Part numbers; Front L: 334154 Front R: 334155 Rears: 341140

Fronts are same as a Volvo S40. Most places stock them

So i got the king springs, now just need to get new drop links and bushes. Can anyone tell me the names of the bushes i should replace?

FYI the bottom of the range BC coilovers use universal damper rates and are not tailored for the FTO.
