Hey all,

I'm thinking of things to do to brighten up this bay of mine...Looking for any ideas I can get! It's non-MIVEC so I need to figure out what I can do to make it more presentable...

Any ideas?

Woah woah woah Mr angrypants... I was just jumping on the band-wagon

Okay, so if this were my car with that abysmal budget, I'd go about polishing the plenum AND front rocker cover, as well as cleaning up and re-spraying the plastic coil-pack and timing-case covers. Don't bother with painting the intake pipe, as it's going to move and crack any paint you put on there.

Not sure if SAMCO do red heater hoses for the radiator and all that, but it would definitely look good. Also, a heater-foil wrap for the battery to keep the heat off it wouldn't be a half bad idea. Could even build it's own little box for it if you really wanted.

I have braided hose covers sitting in the shed from my old car (unfortunately they never ended up meeting the engine bay) ...Should I use them?

You could do what I'm gonna do, paint the mitsubishi lettering and symbol blue well red for you and keep the backing black so just the letters are coloured, also could make a new intake out of some intercooler piping and 90 degree samco bends, lol oh Yeh I stole your idea on the stereo door grylls with the stencil, cheers :)

An engine bay should look stock at all times in my opinion.
Spend the $200 elsewhere. Struts braces, rear swaybar, CAI etc.

:cheeky: you realize your contradicting yourself there? Strut braces and a Cai would make his bay look less stock, think you mean don't just jazz it up unnecessarily.

Thats a good point actually. The engine bay was the last thing on my list as normally its not seen and it doesnt provide any practical benefit. When I finished everything else, thats when I started to put the effort into it.

Yeah but strut braces, CAI etc have a different purpose other than just making things look better.

Dstocks, your car is a bit of an exception as everything is to such a high standard that you had nothing left to do but the engine bay 8O
