FTO AUSTRALIA

Hey all,
So I'm looking at installing a remote start system with my new alarm, but I'm a bit worried about having it with the Manual...
Does anybody know if the FTO has a neutral position sensor? or any way of telling if the car is not in gear?

Another question, does anybody know if the FTO shares a similar wiring harness to any other cars?

Dont they void insurance? Im pretty sure cars over here arent meant to have them.. Does anyone know any more info? Couldve sworn Ive heard insurance companies wont insurance cars with remote starts. May want to look into that if you havent.

As for the rest of the post, I have no idea. But dont you put the car into neutral when youre finished driving as a habit? If not.. even if you do start it, handbrake would be up

I've read something about the insurance problem, I'll give them a call today.
Yes I always leave it in neutral, but I know some people (my Mother) have a habit of leaving it in first, I'll only ever use the remote start when I know that I was the last person to use the car, but it's just one of those extra precautions

I just called them up. They have 0 issues with remote starts

Maybe you could put a switch when the handbrake is up, as 9.99/10 before people get out they put the handbrake on.

It'll significantly reduce the chance of a remote start if its in 1st.

I believe it is meant to have something to do that with it
Does anybody know where the wiring for the brake switch is?

The issue is that theyre also easier to steal. i.e. you turn it on to warm it up, walk away from it for 5 mins and some dickhead jumps in and grabs it. Sounds stupid but Id imagine thats why insurance might have issues. In reality thats unlikely to happen, though.

It locks all the doors and arms the sensors. As soon as an intrusion is detected, it shuts off the car.

I'd only really use the remote start at Home really, wouldn't ever use it on a hill.
Also that's where the handbrake comes in handy :p

There is no neutral position sensor in our boxes.

You could use a couple magnetic reed switches to have the car not start while it's in gear, would require a bit of work but is possible.
