Hey guys

i had this problem for awhile now but tried multiply way to fix it and none did the job so here i am! maybe one of you guys know what going on.

first off my map light is screwed the bracket that hold the light on the RHS has fallen out and the other one is wedged in there, the switch don't work or it either the light.

i was driving one time few weeks back and the light suddenly came on when i opened the door was pretty shocked and this is where i came to the conclusion there something wrong with my door sensor as well?

i had to cut my alarm speaker out cause it would go off randomly and one time i was driving back from work the door sensor would stay on then go off for few minutes then come back on.

But now everything is just completely dead so is there anyway to fix all of this?

1. Replace map light globes, mounts and switches or just replace the whole rearview mirror
2. Check and replace fuse
3. Check wiring going into the back of the mirror
4. Adjust the door strikers so your doors close a bit closer to the car. Which will press the door switches a bit further in.

My alarm went off by itself occasionially as the passenger door was'nt closing enough to press the door switch enough. On a hot afternoon the interior air of the FTO would heat and expand, forcing the passenger door to move outwards, causing the interior light to turn on, causing the alarm to activate.

Yeah, the alarm went off the next day @ 3pm. I adjusted the door in a bit further, now all fixed  .....although the door is not aligned now but only by 0.5mm, not really noticable.
Thanks for asking.
You fixed your squeaking yet?

i have tried to do all the step you mention apart from replace review mirror.

is it possible to replace without cracking the windscreen?

also the door sensors don't work anymore either i tried adjusting to strikers so door closes in more don't work either, i have open the sensors and cleaned them but that didn't work either.

There are two parts to the rear view mirror, a small part is glued to the windscreen (this does not need to be removed) and the actual mirror, the mirror twists off the small part. Just grab a hold of the stalk behind the mirror and turn the entire mirror anti-clockwise.

How do you know your switches don't work? Have you tested them with a multimeter?

Just to make sure you are testing them right. The door switches are just ground switches, they don't have any power going to them.

Yeah they do! The switches are a negative pulse setup, which means they have 12 volts when unlocked, and rests at ground when locked.

One wire to the switch should have a 12v constant the ouput wire will have a 12v reading and ground when the pin is pushed in.
