Seatbelt Problems

So here's my issue. I have a really slack passenger seatbelt and mum has been hassling me for ages to replace it. I have taken one from my wreck I'm scavenging through. I have let it wind all the way in and now it refuses to unwind.

So my question is can I fix it somehow, or is it gone for good and I need another one? :-/

You have to hold the seatbelt you took from the wreck completely vertical while you pull the belt out or the seatbelt locking mechanism will kick in

I have tried doing that from every angle possible. It refuses to budge, so I'm assuming It has seized completely. Getting no movement from it whatsoever.

That may be the problem in itself. Is it a wreck from an accident? If so one might assume the seatbelt mechanism is damaged from that?

Why don't you just get a brand new belt? They cost a couple hundred but probably worth it if you don't want to get defected and/or injure your passengers...

I don't earn a whole lot of money so I've been trying to save and recycle where possible. It worked fine before I removed said seatbelt from the wreck. I just thought it was strange how it wasn't working once it retracted.

Could you perhaps link me somewhere I could find a new/good cond belt?

I'm not cheap. I just earn $350 a week. (KFC slave labour)

I'll give it a go tomorrow afternoon. If not I guess a new one is my only option.

Sadly, no luck with attaching the belt.

Might need to replace both the belts by the looks of things haha.

For the sake of safety I might just take it too a seatbelt joint and get them both looked at/replaced.

Affirmative. Pop pulled it open and there was this weird little bit of plastic (not from the housing or seatbelt itself) obstructing the the metal sphere in the side.
