Driver side window mechanism

It's been bad for a while, used to make a bad noise, then I could only drop it about an inch and now it won't do anything at all (not even making a noise).
I've had the door card off previously and yes the front guide looks a bit shot and the window kept coming out of it but even so I still couldn't get it to drop more than an inch and don't know what I need to buy.
There was broken glass under the drivers seat when I got the car so looks like it's had a replacement window at some stage.
Can anyone tell me what I need to get to fix this issue other than a whole new door?
